The important thing about AAC coaches is they aren't leaving for mediocre P5 schools(Taggert to Oregon, Herman to Texas, Feunte to Virginia Tech. The worst was Ruhle to Baylor and that wasn't bad).
-Mike Norvell to Oregon State or Missouri, maybe. Very well may stick around another year and see if a Texas job opens up I don't think he'll get looks that are any better than also-ran type P5 programs.
-Scott Frost to Nebraska, Tennessee, AZ State or maybe Arkansas, UCLA, or A&M opens up.
-Niumatalolo won't pass on BYU forever. Any random year now for that to happen.
-Chad Morris will get looks from some P5 Schools. Missouri may be a decent fit. He will likely stay around Texas.
Neal Brown at Troy will likely end up at a lower P5 or AAC school. The same goes for other Sunbelt or CUSA coaches.
What makes it interesting will be the surprise vacancies. What happens if Fedora bolts from UNC, Snyder retires, Campbell leaves Iowa State, Patterson leaves TCU, Mullen leaves Moo U, or Auburn collapses and fires Malzahn. Something like one of those things is bound to happen.
There was a lot to think about here, so thank you.
One of the things that has jumped out at me is the number of hot seat guys who have cooled their seats this year. Rich Rodriguez has probably earned himself another year, Dave Doeren has certainly done that, and if Kevin Sumlin does leave A&M he'll get another P5 gig the same offseason. Some of the P5 coaches thought to be possible movers or hot prospects haven't had great seasons. That includes Larry Fedora, Pat Narduzzi, Mike MacIntyre, etc. Some hot prospects among G5 coaches have cooled off like Phillip Montgomery and Frank Wilson (losses to USM and North Texas).
Then there are some schools doing so bad that they might be afraid of the response to their getting into the coaching market. Kansas and Missouri come to mind.
