Baker Mayfield wins Heisman

How many Heisman winners has Tulane faced (in the season they won)?

Billy (conman) Cannon. The rest are guesses.

Trent Richardson? Ricky Williams?

We beat Tony Dorsett’ Pitt team in the early 70’s at their place when he was a freshman.

I realize it wasn’t his senior Heisman year, still.......

I thought of him but I don't think we played them the year he won (1976).

We also played against Jim Plunkett who went on to win the Heisman.

Richardson never won the Heisman. We definitely didn't play Alabama when Ingram or Henry won it.

I wasn't sure and kinda thought we didn't (hence the ?) and didn't have time to check. But since we're also listing guys we played against in years prior to their Heisman year... we played them the year before in 1992 (Ward finished 6th in Heisman voting that year) and they beat us 70-7... :(

I looked it up. Steve Spurrier in 1966. He's the only one after 1960. (BTW, we lost to UF 31-10 in G'ville).

amended: the entire list--near as I can tell, is:

1. Frank Sinkwich
2. Johnny Lujack
3. Leon Hart
4. Billy (conman) Cannon
5. Steve Spurrier
6. Baker Mayfield

Didn't beat any of them. Came closest against Cannon, losing 14-6. This list assumes we did not play Alabama in 2009, when Ingram won the award.

Nice job. That's some serious digging with some obscure Heisman winners. Can confirm we didn't play Bama in 09. Our OOC that year was Army, McNeese, BYU, and LSU.
