Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs
I hadn’t realized until they said just now that it’s been 50 years since their last Super Bowl, under Hank Stram .

I was at that game. kind of a cool day.PeteRasche wrote:In Tulane Stadium, no less.TUPF wrote:I hadn’t realized until they said just now that it’s been 50 years since their last Super Bowl, under Hank Stram .
Made more famous after the fact by the Hank Stram "Wired" and matriculating the ball down the field.
and one more thing. Dad made me wear a jacket and tie. Which was a little challenging considering I was only 11 at the time. Had to go back in the house and find of those clip-on ones. Then we walked over.
I think the tickets were the outrageous sum of $15. and of course ...the halftime show. all that. Good Times.
Celebrating over 50 years as a Tulane Fan ....

Re: Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs
was kinda hoping for a Packers/Chiefs "rematch" just for the sake of nostalgia.
Now I'm privately... nah, who am I kidding... publicly hoping for Kyle Shanahan to blow a bigger lead in a shorter amount of time as he did as the OC of the Falcons against the Pats. Mathematically impossible without a pick 6 and a scoop and score... so, there's a slight chance.

It isn't the SB yet, there's still time for him to poop in his mess kit. I'm with you on that one...Johnny Mac wrote:Now I'm privately... nah, who am I kidding... publicly hoping for Kyle Shanahan to blow a bigger lead in a shorter amount of time as he did as the OC of the Falcons against the Pats. Yes, it was a kind of cold and dreary day. And the tickets were listed at $15. We walked across the street from Phelps and got a pair of tickets for $20. Seemed like a lot of money at the time. Got to witness the start of the Vikings Super Bowl (even if it wasn't called that at the time) misery.

Re: Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs
I have a similar SB Phelps story, this time for the 1975 game between Tarkenton’s Vikings and Bradshaw’s Stillers. Leaning over from our 4th floor Willow side balcony we heard the street hawkers get more frantic as game time neared. It was pretty cold for New Orleans (probably no hot chocolate) and my guess is they were stuck with lots of tickets. My suitemate and I grabbed tickets for $5(!) each and we were seated before kickoff. I sat in the same section as Willie Stargell from the Pirates.CT Wave wrote:Yes, it was a kind of cold and dreary day. And the tickets were listed at $15. Re: Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs
Speaking of cheap tickets, in 1993 several of my teammates went down to the Superdome for the NCAA championship game and obtained tickets shortly after tipoff for $5 each... In the absolute nosebleeds of the Dome, up where the air gets thin. But they can say they were in the building when Chris Webber called the most (in)famous time out in basketball history...
Re: Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs
I was in the nose bleed section as well. Cannot remember what I paid for the tickets, but it was more than $5. Could barely see the game that high up so we left at halftime. Went to the Hyatt where CBS radio had a call in show going on in the 2nd half. Had a great time.
Re: Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs
As opposed to my SB ticket story from a year ago this week when I had 2 tickets to Atlanta, only to have my legs cut from under me by a zebra and taken to the cleaners upon selling said tickets.

I’m hoping the Big Cheeseburger finally gets his ring today. We all learn from experience. Even though it took one from Reid’s coaching tree to finally win one in Philly, I hope the Chiefs finally bring Andy his own ring.

Re: Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs
well, Shanahan managed to blow a 10 point 4th quarter lead.. his clock management at the end of the first half was worse than anything Andy Reid has ever done

Never seen a guy so uncomfortable with how to act with that. He just kept yelling "hey!" and "oh boy!". At times he actually looked mad about the crush of cameras and such. Loosen up, big guy!TUPF wrote:Congrats, Andy!

Combining all four professional sports, Missouri is the only state that can claim a champion. Think about it.....
