RIP Le Grande Orange. Should have been in the Hall. Always remembered his big picture over the Bright Star Bar and Restaurant on Panola.

My first sports idol.

He made me a fan of the Astros, the Expos and even, to a lesser extent, the Mets.

Rusty Staub played little league (and Babe Ruth) baseball at the same playground I played at in late the 60's, that being Bunny Friend playground in the nint ward.

His picture, along with the rest of his teammates which included 2 of my older cousins, was on the wall in the Bunny Friend concession stand's office. The team was coached by Firmon Simms from NORD.

Amen.

What makes N.O. great: it names playgrounds "Bunny Friend" and streets after Greek muses and then "localizes" their pronunciation.
