Post by OGSB »

Louis Martin Blazer, a former Pittsburgh-based financial adviser turned government witness, testified Tuesday that he paid college football players from several programs from around 2000 to 2013-14 in hopes of becoming their financial adviser once they turned pro.
The schools listed, per multiple reports, were Pittsburgh, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Alabama and North Carolina. Blazer did not offer any specific names and is scheduled to be in court again Wednesday.

Yet another thing JoePa knew nothing about.

Perfect. I used to work with a slew of obnoxious, self righteous, PSU grads. It was as if they learned about Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny all in the same week.

reminds me of a joke about his statue outside their stadium back when all the fallout was happening and the debate was keep it or remove it. someone on the radio said, "they should just turn it around...that way those who wanted to keep it can see it, and everyone else can remember him as the coach that looks the other way"

Why is Michigan the only school listed in the title to this thread?

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because they have a reputation of being holier-than-thou when it comes to these kinds of scandals.

Well, the article did appear in a Detroit paper and that was the headline. For our purposes, I thought a broader title was appropriate.

I was too lazy to change the title.

So this all happened during the timeframe where UNC also had athletes attending made up classes?

Thanks for a very reasonable answer, OGSB.

This thing gets dirtier daily... Yet it's all hearsay and likely no one important goes down.

Duke, UNC, UK, and all the Nike bluebloods getting a suspicious eye... Even Clemson football being mentioned by a Clemson basketball coach. And the quote by the Alabama basketball assistant about them "having s--t in place" (to pay for recruits as needed) likely means via the football team's arrangements.

A good (or sickening, depending on your point of view) read:
