He's like Rasputin. We should play Missouri State again, just to ram it up his butt. Scumbag...

Obviously they want to be in the news, and don't care why.PeteRasche wrote:Deciding between Art Briles and Bobby Petrino? What the?

I think less this, and more they want to get a more well-known, quality coach than they could otherwise get if they weren't willing to get in the news for bad reasons.GretnaGrn wrote: Obviously they want to be in the news, and don't care why.
Don't get me wrong, this is a horrible decision by Mo State. But I don't think they are doing this because they "want" the press for this. They just want a weight-carrying-name of a coach and this press is the price they have to pay to get one.

They don't care about making a name hire or a splash. They want the best coach they can get at the level they are (bad FCS) and aren't worried about reputations. There just happen to be some very successful coaches available who are in the "career rehab" situation where they have to start back at the low level and earn their way back up again. Petrino will win for a couple of years, show that he can avoid getting into trouble, then will get a job at a low level FBS (SBC or Florida-based CUSA likely), will win there in only one or two years, and he'll have done enough "penance" that he'll be back in the P5. Give him, what, 6 years, tops?, to be back in P5... Same old, same old.
