And the first bucket of the Hunter era is a three-ball!

We look like we could have just kept Conroy and put the Dunleavy and Hunter money towards football.

Took a while to get going but 12 point lead at ten half. Great defensive half forcing 10 turnovers and only giving up 21 points. He stuck to his word about only playing an 8 man rotation.

I'm watching.. Christian Thompson is the real deal. Would like to see more opportunities for Hightower. Jordan Walker is quick. KJ Lawson needs to stop taking 3s. Zhang is still lost on offense.

3 for 9 from the stripe. That's utterly pathetic and unacceptable. I do love our defense is strong and they aren't committing fouls. Not sure I've ever seen a team with only 1 free throw in a half.

Our hoopsters have been taking tips from our footballers on starting slow.

If you can't say something negative, ...

Now 41-23 TU early 2nd half

Its gotten slightly better. I don’t really expect to really get an idea about this team until a few conference games.

Oh, I think that is exactly right. Much too early right now to really get an idea about this team.

And yet you felt OK making the pissy comment I quoted.

We just won by 21 points in a game we were favored by 7.

Plus, even though it's game # 1, our stats over-all were solid.

Positive start. Easy bet to cover. I would assume on next few games because of level of competition, Tulane may be overpriced but not tonight.

Team plays very hard and intensely. We need a few more guys to step up. If the three amigos keep averaging 35+ minutes per game, their tongues will be dragging come February. There is no time off on the floor in Hunter ball.

Shooting was ho hum but more than offset by effectiveness of pressure defense. Most encouraging stat was having only 12 turnovers. Last year that was easily the number in a half. Most encouraging play was having an effective PG.

Crowd was very animated. Much larger than "typical" turnout over the past years. Even being only half full, Devlin was very loud. If the arena can be relatively full, Tulane can start to have a home court advantage again like not seen since Clark era.

P.S., Zion and friends stayed the entire game. Zion gave Hunter a big hug after the game. Football team had a good turnout. However with relatively large student attendance I could not tell if O/U of 50 players was achieved.
