Is there a chance that the American cannibalizes itself so much that only Wichita and Cincinnati make the NCAA Tournament?

You could see about 6 teams (SMU, Memphis, Tulane, UCF, UConn, Tulsa) all within 3 games of each other in the standings by the end of the season. Houston will probably finish 3rd, but will they have a good enough resume to get in the field? I'd say probably. The American is too decent of a league to only get 2 teams in.

We could do like the SEC, and claim that our records reflect playing in the "strongest" conference.
