We swapped them out for less-obviously-fake ones a few years ago but I always chalked those up to dicksonian cheapness

I think Jones said he made a concession to cost on that one. But the kind of thing he insisted upon was an extended wall on the home-plate end of the 3rd-base dugout, so opposing coaches could not see his signs. Old school.
