Re: Baseball vs UNO
Little things like this are so frustrating. That's little league stuff.

Re: Baseball vs UNO
I hate replay
Re: Baseball vs UNO
I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but, while I appreciate that we get the games on ESPN+, why can’t we get instant replays? Is it the need of additional equipment or just operators learning on the fly?

It's just the production. We had a few over the weekend.

Re: Baseball vs UNO
Missed base really hurts
Re: Baseball vs UNO
I hate that it’s used for everything. It should be for fair/foul, catch/drop or other close plays that could affect the game’s outcome.
I also don’t like umpires using it inconsistently like reviewing our hit batter after not reviewing ULL’s.

Re: Baseball vs UNO
Agree, if the ump on the field doesn't notice the runner missing the bag, can't review

Ultimately, I expect it will lead to lazier umpires since they can recover from their lack of attention.gerryb323 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 7:38 pmAgree, if the ump on the field doesn't notice the runner missing the bag, can't review

And we had two curves, right down the middle, one a ball and one a striketulaneoutlaw wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 7:40 pmYes. Giving corners then not giving them. Their pitcher has already gotten a bunch of questionable strikes

Re: Baseball vs UNO
Part of the ESPN deal involved our building out production facilities on campus. That would have happened but COVID delayed it. They don't yet have the capacity for more replays because of this delay.

Re: Baseball vs UNO
Except the opposite is true. Officials don't want to be shown to be wrong, so there is more pressure on them to get the call right when the threat of replay exists.Roller wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 7:39 pmUltimately, I expect it will lead to lazier umpires since they can recover from their lack of attention.gerryb323 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 7:38 pmAgree, if the ump on the field doesn't notice the runner missing the bag, can't review

Re: Baseball vs UNO
As I recall, they did review the ULL hit batter. They just didn’t overturn the original call.
I like replay for the most part. It has its drawbacks but I’d rather get the obvious calls correct.

Re: Baseball vs UNO
Strike zones over the weekend were better than I was expecting, this is not.
