Must be nice. The ump gave them that win with the tiny strike zone in the 9th

I never understood why Gillies was moved to closer. He’s been consistent since he’s been here. He has no movement on the ball and doesn’t fool anyone.

For a guy that throws hard, Gillies just doesn’t ever blow anyone away with the fastball and nobody chases his breaking ball

Gillies should be a midweek starter with no pressure. Hes not a bullpen guy

He was a home run derby pitcher when he was starting. He should be a reliever when we have a 4+ run lead.

We are good enough to hang with a decent team but don’t have the pitching to beat them.

Another opportunity pissed down our leg. Classic Tulane. When is it our turn to have something nice??

If we miss out on a regional on the bubble, we can look back at this weekend and ULL as the reason why. Good teams close and we couldn't get it done.

To be fair he has added a lot of velocity since he arrived. He’s better but still not cut out to be the closer.

A closer who can’t strike people out makes no sense to me. Other than him being tall, I have never seen much movement on his fast ball, and he has difficulty with his release point. He seems to always walk people. I wish I could say I was surprised, but I expected this when he started the inning. Does anyone disagree with me?I am disgusted.

So, every game in the loss column has been from the last at-bats, right?

He does throw harder, but opponents time his pitches up fairly easily.

I said it was a hold your breath moment when he came in. I didn’t expect to win at that point.

True.

I have watched my Reds lose game after game despite one of the best starting rotations in baseball. Now the Wave is trying to one-up them. All three starters did their jobs ("put us in a position to win") this weekend against a top-5 team and the bullpen wrecked 2 of them. I'm really sick of this s**t.

At this point, anyone else - Make Campbell the closer. He throws strikes and the ball has movement - or try someone else.

Agree, doc. At this point I pull all 23 pitchers together on the mound, roll out a ball, and yell “alright, which one of you wants it?” 🤨
