Tulane vs La Tech Game 3

Post by waverider »

Reverse sweep shirts today. May we get to meet a 4th La Tech pitcher? Is today’s pitcher the one that 2-hit Ar-Kansas?

Foul tip got Lee on his bare hand. Looked painful, but he's staying in.

After 2 quick outs, Aldrich beaned the 3rd batter. Who scores on the next pitch--a double inside first base. Umps reviewing, since Jewett says the ball bounced around the bullpen and should have been declared "dead."
Play stands. Tulane trails, 0-1.

Groff tied the throw at first, Umps called him out after a long review. Whatever happened to "tie goes to the runner"?

This pitcher is not getting a CG...he's already at 25 with only one out (which should not have been an out).

I often wonder if AA is watching the same game we are. He certainly isn’t scoring along like Graf did or he would know who the base runners are at any given time. Seems to be a common mistake for him.

LaPrarie was slow getting out of the box. The ball had already rolled out of the infield before he took his first step! No wonder he was thrown out by the second-baseman who was rolling around in right field.

Maybe these umpires don't know that the tie goes to the runner, but now the tie goes to the Wave, 3-3.

Not that I blame them but the coaching staff is showing that it has very little faith in the bullpen

La Tech scores 3 before using our base running as an example and we go to the bottom of the 6th 6-4 La Tech

Sac fly makes it 8-5. Close play at second for a potential double play. (Play is not at third if you are listening to AA)

Luis Aviles drilled in the head. Goes down a while then after replay is called out for leaning into it.

Aviles tried to duck under a ball, and it hit him in the earhole. The replay clearly shows that the ball was over the edge of the batter's box when it hit him--clearly nowhere near the plate. He was knocked silly, but the umpires still ruled that he got hit on purpose, and they ruled him out! LaTech has two batters who flex their knee into the strike zone on nearly every pitch. The umpires rule against Tulane on every close play and then rule against Tulane on a clear HBP.
