And once again, the Wave wiggle out of a potential jam. Score remains 3-6.

just watched replay of 12:00 weather, and looks like rain throughout the night, but as someone said earlier, a bump to the north or south could make a big difference

Is there a regulation on those hand protectors for sliding? I feel like they make the hand longer

Lee steals second. Aviles looks at slider down the middle for strike 3. Runner on 2nd, 2 out

Thunderstorms are scattered the rest of today and not isolated like this morning. We will have rain all day/night but only some will be thunderstorms which would cause 30 minute delays with each lightning strike.

Hopefully tomorrow’s rain is the same and they can play through it.

Good question. Then again, the modern gloves worn by fielders also make their hands longer.

Well sure, but I feel like getting an extra couple inches on your reach hand in a slide gives an unfair advantage. I mean, I'll take the 12-inch fingers please!

I was wondering the same thing about them. Definitely gives the runner a slight advantage, but like visual said, everyone does it so nobody’s complaining.

I think lsu was the first team I used to see using them a lot and questioned the legality. The next season it seemed like every team was doing it.

I did a little reading. The gloves are considered as a "mitt," and are subject to the same parameters for gloves and mitts.
Supposedly the sliding glove evolved out of Scott Podsednik's (KC Royals) full-hand cast to protect a broken thumb.

Headed to b8. An insurance run or two would be nice.

Where did you see that? I see the rules about Fielder's mitts

I asked the question in Bing and read several pages from that. I think it might have been the one where a woman asked why players wear "oven mitts."
