1st place Tulane vs 2nd place ECU, Gm#2

Post by Roller »

Game has started, but ECU video coverage has not (just a solid black window). Listening to AA's streaming feed courtesy of WRBH and watching stats tracker.

Wave go 1-2-3 in the first. Aldrich takes the mound.

They're not using the centerfield camera, so we can't judge the pitches or see how biased the home plate umpire might be.

Breeze blowing in from right, which probably cost both Niemann and Aviles homers.

Niemann's shot turned to a long out. Aviles' shot turned into a long single off the wall. Engelhard GIDP, and we go to B2.

Not sure why that bunt attempt was ruled foul? I'm guessing maybe the ball hit the batter as he was coming out of the box?

Either way, bunting there is stupid, per usual, by Jewett.

If a bunted ball hits in foul territory but rolls fair before reaching first or third base, isn't it a fair ball? Did we just get robbed of a hit (and a later SAC-fly run) by the home plate ump?

RBI single by Burns! 1-0 Wave.

Burns advances to 2nd on the throw to the plate. Two outs.

Regardless, that run has scored, although we were robbed of an out.

To my knowledge no. If it hit down in the batters box it’s a dead ball I believe

The behind-the-plate camera sucks too. I'm tuning out. Hopefully I'll check back tonight and the Wave were able to split this double header.

Or maybe we just aren't that good... I guess we'll find out in the next 24 hours.

We haven’t got a close pitch all weekend.

3-1. They hit everything.

4-1.

They field it better than we do. Outside of Burns we have not fielded the ball well.

Groff missed a 3 run homer by a few feet. Need to take advantage of that really short left field.
