ECU # 3

Post by NJwave »

Must win. Lee to DH and Aviles to catch. Burns leads off with a hit. Followed up with another hit.

For those wondering it was hitting coach Jay Ulhman that got tossed near the end of game 2.

We give up a free out on the bunt and have a runner caught stealing. 2-0, bottom 1.

After 4:
TULa: 3-6-0
ECU: 4-7-0

We dispatched their starter in the top of the 4th.

Wave take the lead. Up 5-4, with 1 out in the 5th, and runners on 1st and 2nd.

Fielder's Choice put the runners on the corners with 2 away.

On the scoring play, ECU got upset, claiming that Aviles had run out of the basepath (he hadn't, and the umps got this one right).

And we go to B5, leading by one.

It’s not pretty but what a gutsy performance by Benoit so far to fight through his struggles today. Let’s get some breathing room boys!

We need to keep scoring lots of runs. No bunting playing for 1 run.

Bottom 6 up a run. Let’s see if saving Slagel and Gillies for game 3 pays off.

Benoit back with over 100 pitches.

Walks first batter and that will do it.

Campbell comes in for ULa. Benoit started shakily, but settled down and ended his stint at 108 pitches through 5 innings.
