I hate that it takes all these great artists dying to make the "kids" appreciate them, but at least hopefully they will.

A truly historic figure in music. He was active until then end, and had a new record and tour due to come out in the next year. RIP.

He was such an iconic figure, that every teenager who aspired to be a rock guitarist learned the riffs for Johnny B. Goode and Roll Over Beethoven among their first sessions. In fact, he was so widely emulated that he saved money on tour by not bringing a back-up group. Instead, he was always able to find a local group who could play his entire portfolio.

A true pioneer.
