I remember him from "Kelly's Heroes," as well as his many visits on Johnny Carson. My kids loved him as Mr. Potato Head. He will be missed.
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?

Sad to hear this today, he was always hysterical. He turned insulting someone into an art form. Sadly we've become so uptight today that he couldn't do half of his old bits thanks to the Political Correctness Police. A local radio station on my drive home today played a clip from one his old routines in tribute, and in a 1-minute span he insulted fat people, Hawaiians, Jews, and Blacks, each individually... and while some comedians can get away with a little ethnic stuff, the things Rickles said wouldn't fly with anyone else in today's world.

I saw him first in a lounge act in Lake Tahoe in 1966 and didn't know who he was or his comedy. It took me a while to realize his insults were an act, I thought he was just a comedian who lost it in dealing with the crowd. Funny man and I always liked him after that because you never knew what he was going to say. I don't know how he got away with it.
