Weather Channel is downplaying the effects on New Orleans mostly because of how fast Nate is moving but they're still showing storm surge along the eastern LA coast at like 7 to 11 feet. That's nothing to sneeze at... In fact, if I remember what I learned over the years, it almost looks like it's hitting at the absolute worst case place if it were moving WNW instead of NNE, but it's not as problematic because it's not at the worst angle, it's only Cat 1, and it's moving too fast.

Power out? Power still on? Flooding? Everyone okay?

My brother is by City Park. He just said almost no difference from a normal night there. No rain. Not much wind.

Not much difference, except for Tulane skull stomping someone in football for once.

The worst I got so far was walking home from the game.

We took a 3 mile walk at 6 pm. Dry

Even now just a sprinkle. Little wind.

Mayor canceled his curfew 40 minutes in.

I’ve seen thunderstorms impact us more.

If you were on HWAY 90 in Mississippi (stuff wiped out in both Camille and Katrina), it was not so good. FWIW there was little precipitation on the western side of Nate. It rained harder right after the game. With luck we have a great weather day today. Ironic.

Precaution of local officials was called for. I'm just glad the SWB drainage system was not tested.

On the eastern side of the storm...Destin, etc., we got lots of rain starting at 330 this morning and then wind at about 25-30 kts, so knocked down a lot of leaves, small limbs and pine needles. Overall, we escaped with no problems.
