Watched the M Knight Shamylan movie Split today. It's about a guy with 23 personalities that kidnaps 3 girls and traps them in a basement. The guy's psychologist has this hanging on her wall.

(The glare was in the movie)

Check IMDB and see which offscreen person went to Tulane. Producer, screenwriter, set designer... someone involved must have a connection. There are quite a few heavy hitters in Hollywood who went to Tulane or have Tulane connections.

"School of Political Scinece"?

Perhaps it was someone from another Louisiana school who was involved.

Also, do we have a secret satellite campus at Davis?

Wow, good spot, Roller. I bet 99.99999999% of the world wouldn't spot that. And how the heck did whoever made that fake diploma get it through?

A couple of names pop in my mind quickly. First was Bruce Paltrow. Father of Gwinneth (forgive the spelling). One of the Tuero sisters was married to William Peter Blatty, author of "The Exorcist." Finally, I remember Chris LeBlanc from Campus night, Tulanians and hanging out with Jeanne Pedersen at the info desk in the U.C. in late 70's, now on "The Young and the Restless." I am certain that there are many others out there

Wikipedia has a good synopsis: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulane_ ... ar_culture

My daughter was binging on Gilmore Girls reruns recently and Rory Gilmore’s Chilton classmates say
they are going to go to Tulane made me look this up.

Maybe someone can add "Father Was a Fullback" and "Split" to the list. There are hundreds of others, but those jump quickly to mind today.

It's set there in the book and I'm pretty sure Grisham took a gratuitous shot at the football team.

Re:The Pelican Brief: The movie was shot while I was there, mostly in the summer but a little right before school ended. There were several long scenes shot at The Boot in which friends of mine were extras. The scenes were in the book (I believe the book used a fake name for the bar), but those scenes ended up being cut from the movie entirely. Similarly, a friend and I passed by a scene shoot on St. Charles one evening, a couple blocks uptown from Broadway, and decided to stop and watch. After probably 30 minutes of our small crowd sitting and watching nothing, Julia Roberts came out of a trailer and entered a house on the river side. They blocked traffic, and a group of cars which were driven by cast folks (extras, I guess, but being driven specifically for timing) started passing by the house. A streetcar came up the tracks and stopped; Roberts came out of the house, down the steps, crossed the street (pausing as those perfectly timed cars passed), and got on the streetcar. They did the scene twice. And... It, too, ended up on the cutting room floor.

In fact, if I recall, very, very little of the movie showed New Orleans or Tulane. The scenes in the law school classroom were indeed shot in Jones Hall but could just as easily been a Hollywood studio (they were absolutely nondescript rooms). Most of the outdoor stuff or stuff at Uptown locations got cut. Only the scenes downtown towards the end of the movie really showed New Orleans, and most Tulane stuff was cut. I remember watching it on second run at McAlister and the only thing that got any crowd cheer was when she threw down a folder on a table and it clearly showed the Tulane crest and name on it.

I don't recall anything about the football team, but it might be there...

.........as she glanced our way.) She was wearing jeans and a T-shirt and walked to where we were standing. We were stumbling over each other, but recovered in time to say Hi and how much we enjoyed watching her films and ask just what she has been doing while in New Orleans? She kinda jumped on that and mentioned she really hasn't been to any college hangouts yet. Trying to stay somewhat nonchalant, we said there was a pretty typical college bar just up on St. Charles Ave and that if she wanted to go we would be thrilled to escort her there. Wow, what can I say. We walked in Fat Harry's and no one noticed her. Just another Loyola coed - yeah right. As for the rest of the evening's events, we promised to keep between ourselves, but let's just say I've been a fan ever since.

Sr, you completely botched the quote there to the point I had to figure out what you were saying, but once I did... Nice!

Reminds me of my buddy at Tulane who knew a sound crew member from Hootie and the Blowfish in their prime in 1997, and when they came in town for the Super Bowl, the guy called him and asked him if he could take them somewhere off the beaten path because he had some friends with them who wanted to get away from the crowds of fans in the Quarter and just have a beer. The guy spent his evening having beers in a back booth at Cooter Brown's with Darius Rucker, Dan Marino, and Bernie Kosar.

Think one of the producers of Entourage has a Tulane connection.

I was always disappointed that in all the seasons of Entourage, there were no more than maybe one or two Tulane references (I think maybe someone was wearing a sweatshirt or something?)

Ellin was THE man on that show, his name was last, splashed across the screen on the hood of the car at the end of the credits.

" Father was a Fullback " - Fred MacMurray (head coach of State U.) and Maureen O'Hara are the main characters of the movie as husband and wife.

State U. is having a losing season. At the end of the film, Fred MacMurray speaks to the State U. booster club about guaranteeing a season-ending victory over old rival Tulane . His 'secret weapon' to win the game knocks himself out before getting into the contest . Tulane intercepts a State U. forward pass on the game's last play and returns it for a game-winning touchdown. Final: Tulane 6 - State 0.

One may speculate which State U. was being referred to in the film. Only one State U. ever came to my mind when they (State) were playing their last game of the season against old Tulane. During the Black & White movie, one can notice that Tulane's headgear keeps changing during the game. Tulane starts the game with shiny helmets (silver ?). Later in the game, they are wearing dark helmets (green ?) and then later you see Tulane in helmets with a stripe down the middle. At the very end of the game, Tulane is wearing 'Michigan-type' helmets. It was just amazing to me how the Tulane equipment staff performed all of those uniform changes during that game.

At the very end of the movie, the husband and wife encounter their youngest daughter about her personal problems. She is played by Natalie Wood .

I forgot to mention that the Tulane Fight Song is played during that Tulane-State game. There is nothing better than watching Tulane win and hearing the fight song. ROLL WAVE ROLL !!!
