Pretty cool. I think the Dutch ship in particular is a sailing naval academy for some of their midshipmen.
Fan since 1974 living in Phelps seeing the upper bowl of Tulane Stadium

I've been on the Elissa a few times, but, unfortunately for me, never under sail.

During the last 15-20 years of my father's life he built wooden models of tall ships. He would get "kits," and would end up building them much like the original ones were build, albeit on a much smaller level. One time he was building the Golden Hind; at the same time a replica was visiting Long Beach Harbor while I was out there. I was given the task of taking several rolls (pre-digital camera days) of photos inside and out to allow him to be as accurate as possible.
I would love to see which ones are there that he might have built during his life.

What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?

If you are interested in historic, wooden ships, this project (link below) is really important. It's a cultural factory opened 20 years ago to build historic boats. They are currenly amidst their biggest project yet. To build an authentic Basque Whaling boat. It's a 5-10 year project, and employs tons of carptenters. The technology was so advanced (and then lost) that portions of the building they aren't even sure how it was originally done.
