Al's #1 beef on Ontario. Navy Pier (children's museum there) ice skating multiple places close by I suggest the ribbon....other museums... water tower place(American girl)... the parks by water place (the one behind the firehouse is best)...top of cork sucker.... The good: more Malnati's for me
The bad: WTF are we going to do while we are there to entertain a 9 year old who'd rather bury her face in a cell phone/iPad/Kindle HD?
Yank.. I'm going to watch the Saints/Steelers somewhere near the Triangle. Let me know if you're up for a late afternoon game and beer since Windy is probably out of the equation, living in the burbs, now. As you saw in the other thread, McFadden's is dead.

Re: Happiness in Chicago
we did the ribbon for Thanksgiving, but it's going to be significantly colder and they don't know shinola about sharpening skates, I nearly died with the first pair I rented since they were sharpened incorrectly... we are going to do zoo lights for sure and maybe the Navy Pier indoor festival.. my daughter hates dolls, BTW.. I won't get any of my family into the cork sucker since the elevator plummeted there right before Thanksgiving. We may take the train out to Glencoe to see the model trains at the botanical garden.windywave wrote:Al's #1 beef on Ontario. Museum of science and industry does a Christmas tree thing. Marshall Field's and do the Walnut Room, German Christmas Market, Hawks or bulls game.Johnny Mac wrote:we did the ribbon for Thanksgiving, but it's going to be significantly colder and they don't know shinola about sharpening skates, I nearly died with the first pair I rented since they were sharpened incorrectly... we are going to do zoo lights for sure and maybe the Navy Pier indoor festival.. my daughter hates dolls, BTW.. They opened an Al's in Athens, GA. It lasted like 6 days because no one understood what was going on.

Re: Happiness in Chicago
In probably a half dozen visits to Chicago in my life, I had never had it or heard of it. Then a coworker who was born and raised in Chicago made it for our company's annual gluttonous "pig out day" (this coming Friday... Everyone brings food and we graze all day...).
Since then, I have always made a point to get Italian beef when in Chicago (along with pizza and a hot dog).
