"Your Honor"
I am sure New Orleans natives get worked up more than I do in re how Hollywood just screws up New Orleans whenever it's on TV/in a movie... first of all, Hollywood is convinced the New Orleans accent sounds like Foghorn Leghorn... but another thing that grabs me is bad continuity in regard to real life.
In Showtime's "Your Honor" I got really worked up.. as the son of Bryan Cranston's character leaves his Garden District home, travels to the West Bank on the CCC and ends up in the lower 9th... obviously the director loved the view of the skyline as he drove over the CCC... then later in the first episode, Bryan Cranston's character is doing the same thing, traveling to the West Bank with the skyline over his shoulder, to go to NOPD HQ. What also made me laugh and this might be a spoiler alert, but a kid whose dad is a New Orleans judge asked "will I get bail?" for a crime he commits and Bryan Cranston says "no." Like the kid of a New Orleans judge wouldn't be released on his own recognizance being the family member of an officer of the court.
Other than that, I like the show

Just be thankful they don't have to explain why they are driving east to go to the West Bank.

Re: "Your Honor"
I forgot that started. I was excited when the previews started. I’ll have to check it out.
Update: I just finished the first episode. You are right about every scene makes it look like you have to cross a bridge to get anywhere. Even the. Peeing scene was on a bridge over the industrial canal.

last time I was near that bridge I went under it in my friend's boat... thank God Judge Desiato wasn't taking a leak at the timewaverider wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 9:12 pm I forgot that started. I was excited when the previews started. I’ll have to check it out.

Oh, in my rant, I forgot the part where the kid went to the West Bank over the CCC and then suddenly was going under the Huey Long on his way to the lower 9th

Pretty sure I had a night or two in my youth when as a passenger crossing the St. Claude Bridge on the way home to Chalmette, it could have been the Huey P and I wouldn't have known the difference - so not totally far-fetched!

Re: "Your Honor"
There have been a couple scenes where can clearly see he’s on I10 East headed towards the West Bank only to end up at an East Bank location, or as you say, nowhere near the bridge at all.Johnny Mac wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:18 pmlast time I was near that bridge I went under it in my friend's boat... thank God Judge Desiato wasn't taking a leak at the timewaverider wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 9:12 pm I forgot that started. I do like the show a lot as I figured I would because of Bryan Cranston.

There was a Tulane mention on this week’s episode (6).

Re: "Your Honor"
Just now started streaming on Showtime, episode 1. Notwithstanding all the valid criticisms above, after shamefully watching Breaking Bad four full times I'll watch anything with Bryan Cranston so I think I'm hooked.
And I'm having a hard time resetting the mob boss character in my mind after he played the really goofy multiple universe guy in the MIB movies.

If you haven't watched El Camino yet, you really should. A very good postscript on the Breaking Bad.
Also, Giancarlo Stanton in the Mandalorian (playing a very similar character).....

Re: "Your Honor"
I did and it was! When I watched the opening episode of Breaking Bad I kept thinking of Walter White as Malcolm's idiot father. That changed quickly. There is a lot of early Walter White in early Judge Desiato. It will be interesting to see how antihero Judge devolves.

(For those not getting the joke, the actor in the Mandalorian is Giancarlo ESPOSITO, not Stanton!)

Usually has plenty of time every year on the DL so I'm sure the production schedules can be coordinated...PeteRasche wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 12:13 pmHow does he find time to hit home runs for the Yankees and do such a great job as Moff Gideon???![]()

Just finished episode 7 and am now up to date. Was that crazy drive by the mob boss on St. Charles? Anyone see it being filmed?

Series ended tonight. Don't know what I was expecting but I guess it was poetic justice.

Re: "Your Honor"
I had put off El Camino for a while thinking it wouldn’t be good compared to Breaking Bad but I liked it a lot. Makes sense that it would be good since I’ve always looked at Breaking Bad being as much a Jesse Pinkman story as Walter White’s.Johnny Mac wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 9:34 pm who thought the conversation about such a dark show would get so funny

Re: "Your Honor"
I thought the ending was somewhat anticlimactic, but with a bit of an unexpected twist. I expected the end result but not in the way it happened. I guess in a poetic “eye for an eye” situation, there was an accidental death traded for another.

Re: "Your Honor"
I also expected there would be enough unresolved that they could dangle a next season but I doubt it now. I guess you could devolve the Judge Desiato character into some sort of Walter White antihero but I think it's done. In that final courtroom scene the Judge crossed the Rubicon.

Re: "Your Honor"
I saw a story that said that the creator had planned to have the ending be that the judge was looking on as the son became "owned" by the mob boss and the price for his misdeeds was that he lost his son to his enemy but then changed it at the last minute to the ultimate finale. The show is apparently a remake of an Israeli show with the same general plot.

You are right about it being a remake.washwave wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:52 am I saw a story that said that the creator had planned to have the ending be that the judge was looking on as the son became "owned" by the mob boss and the price for his misdeeds was that he lost his son to his enemy but then changed it at the last minute to the ultimate finale. It was billed as a miniseries from the beginning with only one season so I knew there would be some kind of closure.
