LSU makes the hard press on Tulane commit Sci Martin
DE and Tulane commit Sci Martin received an offer from LSU after Tiger camp according to Jimmy:

"Coach (Les) Miles told me that I had a full ride offer from the school and told me about what it meant," Martin said. "He really wanted me to commit right then, but I told him I wanted to go home and talk to my family first."
Here we go.

What exactly does it mean?
Orgeron still chasing our recruits, I see.

I am sure Jimmy will also aid in his recruiting. The fact the kid went to LSU after committing to us is hard to swallow. How committed are you when you are visiting other schools?

As a Corndog fan mentions on LSU's board:
If that's true, will be interesting to see if CJ can drive this home on the opportunity Sci would have on this defense vs. going elsewhere and waiting/fighting for time.We have offered and probably lead for all these DEs:
Emmitt Gooden
Caleb Roddy
Sci Martin
Andre Anthony
and don't forget about Glen Logan

It's early, & there will always be intensity in trying for the top recruits. I'm glad we are in the mix.

Re: LSU makes the hard press on Tulane commit Sci Martin
when was the last time LSU went hard after one of our recruits? A god sign, IMO. And one we're going to see more of ("Big Programs" trying to raid our commits) as our recruiting improves.
so I actually see this as validation that we're doing well, recruiting wise.

This. We want P5 schools trying to woo our recruits away. We want them to fail at it, but the fact that they're trying validates our talent evaluation, at the very least.GreenieBacker wrote:when was the last time LSU went hard after one of our recruits? if you're not suffering great pain, you're either Alabama or you're not recruiting hard enough.

Bob Toledo never felt any pain at Tulane.

The recruiting thing even for Saban is the biggest burn=out factor for college coaches.long green wrote:if you're not suffering great pain, you're either Alabama or you're not recruiting hard enough.

I don't mind having the media say "chose Tulane over lsu" on signing day
This also serves as a big STFU to all the lsu fans that say Tulane only recruits players lsu doesn't want.
Now hard work by the staff is needed to keep him!

Re: LSU makes the hard press on Tulane commit Sci Martin
I'm glad Sci didn't commit to LSU right then. He clearly got the hard sell from Miles ("Don't leave without taking this offer Kid!!!"), used a great excuse to get out of there: "I have to talk to my family". Smart. Now that he's back home where we have a chance to remind him why he liked us so much in the first place.

He went to a camp, probably with about 20 or more of his friends...it's not an official visit.tjtlja wrote:I am sure Jimmy will also aid in his recruiting. The fact the kid went to LSU after committing to us is hard to swallow. How committed are you when you are visiting other schools?
Re: LSU makes the hard press on Tulane commit Sci Martin
Do you know this for a fact? Did he pay for the camp?
Re: LSU makes the hard press on Tulane commit Sci Martin
As long as LSU didn't pay for transportation, room, board, food, etc. then it's not an official visit. We don't prohibit our commits from attending camps or taking unofficial visits. Our policy is that if you are a commit, you can't take an official visit to another school AFTER your Tulane official visit.
If we want to play big-time football, you have to get used to kids taking visits even after they commit. It happens to every major school. As long as they abide by CJ's rule, everything should be fine. He just wants the last word.

I thought there was a no visit policy period. Thank you for clearing that up.

No he won't. We are living in the time of the Free Fire Zone for cheaters. Thank you, Mark Emmert. Orgeron would have to kill someone's mom on live television to get in trouble and even than he'd have local media taking up for him.
