Stacy Head calls for Tulane to pay for property tax break...
............in website op-ed
part of the waltz all politicians dance as they prepare to run for public office, in her case I'm guessing mayor. Find an easy scapegoat, prepare an attack sure to make a sizeable constituency happy (i.e., the LSU numbnuts) mix and Voila!

Stacy is already in serious danger of losing her seat on council. Can't imagine she'd have a shot at mayor
Besides representing the worst elements of politics, she never seems very smart either

She has stated that she is retiring from politics after her term on the Council is over. Colleges and universities in other areas of the country are making voluntary payments to the municipalities in which they are located in consideration of services provided by that municipality. In our case, I believe that TU provides way more services to the City than the City provides TU.

Prof, "somebody" ought to comment on the op-ed, presenting the facts that demonstrate the stupidity of her suggestions.

if her political career is dead, then this must be some parting sour grapes for the bruising she took during the stadium controversy.

Sour grapes is her primary motive in most things....GreenieBacker wrote:if her political career is dead, then this must be some parting sour grapes for the bruising she took during the stadium controversy.

Yep, she was one of the most talented people to get on the Council in a while but I don't know anyone who really liked her then who likes her now. Disagree with her on anything and you are Satan and probably also a crook. She got elected in a black majority district and they all hate her, too. Good luck in the private sector, Shouty.

The Connecticut legislature dropped a proposal to tax Yale University’s $25.6 billion endowment as a bill to tax its property moved forward.

Re: Stacy Head calls for Tulane to pay for property tax brea
Tough to make many comments without turning political, but the CT legislature is a joke. There is a $2B deficit looming, and they have cut like $570M. Even the way far left Governor is trying to talk sanity and they just don't want to hear it.OGSB wrote:Part of a broader trend

I was meeting with ours Thursday on a non-fiscal matter when she left to go vote on the budget. Needless to say her vote didn't help...too bad I couldn't distract her longer.....

She persists . . .
http://www.theneworleansadvocate.com/ne ... hurts-cityNew Orleans councilwoman criticizes legislators’ Tulane scholarship program, says it hurts city
But the debate took a new turn on Wednesday when a New Orleans City Council member hijacked a House committee meeting, accusing Tulane of using the legislative scholarships as leverage to keep the university’s property tax burden low.
While the bill stalled in the Legislature, Head also is taking her fight directly to Tulane leaders. She’s written letters to Tulane President Michael Fitts, asking the university to end the legislator scholarship program and voluntarily pay a portion of taxes as a good-faith measure for the city.
Fitts wrote Head a letter saying Tulane already is providing a variety of services to the city. For example, he said, the Tulane University Police Department provides additional police protection to neighborhoods within a one-mile radius of the university, at an annual estimated value of almost $1 million.
