Re: Tulane at South Florida
I loved playing in the Sun Dome. Nothing to get your spirits up and confidence going like a trip to sunny Tampa in January. There was something about that building that energized you.
USF had some awesome fans (students) who would sit behind our bench and talk trash, which always kept us loose. Unfortunately, Denny Crum complained and they made them move and leave the section immediately above the visitors bench empty. Still, it was a fun place to play.
If this year's team can win there, you know it's a fun road place to play!

"With 1:55 to play, the most entertaining part of the second half (or possibly the game) came when Tulane's Melvin Frazier fouled out, and the USF band chanted various adverbs such as "Walking," "Standing," Squatting," until about five minutes later when he FINALLY sat down"

Re: Tulane at South Florida
You could hear it on the TV broadcast, though you couldn't make out what was being said, but they were chanting continuously and the announcers even laughed and mentioned "the student body getting into the game". I remember USF and Memphis (State, at the time) fans being the best. The MSU fans would count down any time a player was subbed out of a game, guesstimating when the player was about to sit, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1..." and then yell "SIT DOWN!" when the player sat. So guys on our team quickly figured it out and guys would stand for long periods of time, or start to sit down and then fake it and stand back up, which always caused the student section to jeer and yell humorous stuff ("C'mon, you're out of the game, aren't you tired? Have a seat!" or even "Down in front!!"). Next time you see guys on the bench holding a towel in front of their faces, it's usually because something humorous like that is going on and they can't let the coaches see that they are laughing because it would appear they weren't completely focused on the game.LondonWave wrote:To quote the Daily Stampede:PeteRasche wrote:I loved playing in the Sun Dome.
