My daughter's classical music trio will perform in Dixon Hall at 7:30pm.

I am awed at the circle of life.

Will they be playing the circle of life?

That's fantastic, Marcus. Very happy for you.
I see it's called a "piano trio". Elena is still playing violin, right?
This urges the question.... will you be there, and if so, does that mean this trip replaces your thoughts of going to homecoming (understandably so, if yes)?

Yes, piano trios usually are piano, violin, cello. And yes, Elena is the violinist, Michael Brown is the pianist, and Nick Cannelakis is the cellist. All three have major careers in their own right, so they just go by their last names as a trio rather than try to come up with a trio name. The three of them also perform in all three combinations of duets including recordings. Elena and Nick met as undergrads at The Curtis Institute, Elena and Michael met at Juilliard during grad school, and Nick and Michael met at a summer music festival. Nick did grad school at The New England Conservatory.PeteRasche wrote:That's fantastic, Marcus. Very happy for you.

I did not realize until looking at her schedule tonight that not only was she playing in New Orleans, but at Tulane. Since it's only a month later than homecoming I'm going to spend my retirement pennies on early December instead. Funny thing is that even though they will perform in Dixon Hall, I have only been inside a couple of times. I spent the majority of my time in the Gibson quad.

Added it to my iPhone calendar already

Anyone planning on attending so that I might say hello at the concert? I arrive Monday noon and depart Wednesday noon.
