UCF leads USF 3-1 in the 6th.
Houston leads Cincy 5-2 in the 3rd.
ECU leads UConn 1-0 in the 9th.
If all scores hold, 1-4 would look like this for the tournament:
1) UCF
2) Houston
3) UConn
4) USF

ECU leads UConn 1-0 in the 9th.

Re: Regular season finale
Kaplan starts the game with a homer for second straight game. 1-0 bottom 1.

Yes. UConn beat USF 2/3.
I would most like to face UConn first. Only way that happens is if USF comes back and beats UCF. Then the top 4 would be...
1) USF
2) Houston
3) UCF
4) UConn

Re: Regular season finale
UCONN ace is very good and they probably have the most to play for as they are on the bubble more than other 3 teams.
I would be happy to see Houston on other side of the bracket.

Re: Regular season finale
Good point. All of those teams have a pretty good ace, though. Gonna be tough in that first game no matter what. At least Merrill has been good lately.
I think the ideal scenario is having Houston and UCF on the other side. The tournament is in Orlando, so I imagine that gives UCF a decent home-field advantage?
Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread. Just interested in tournament scenarios. ECU has extended their lead to 3-0 over UConn, and that game is about to go final.

Hardly hijacking. Our game is meaningless. Sam has 2 walks already. Perpetual problem for him.TulaneTiger wrote:Good point. All of those teams have a pretty good ace, though. Gonna be tough in that first game no matter what. At least Merrill has been good lately.

I would rather Memphis or Cincy as 8 seed but that is locked in. ECU has been bad but much more talented than the other 2.

Re: Regular season finale
ECU wins 3-0 over UConn. USF has pulled to within 3-2 in the 7th.
If Houston holds on, they are locked into the #2 seed. Winner of USF/UCF will be the #1 seed.
If UCF loses, they are the 3 and UConn is the 4. If USF loses, UConn is the 3 and they are the 4.

Absolutely agree. I don't think the #1 seed will be happy to see ECU in that first game.I would rather Memphis or Cincy as 8 seed but that is locked in. ECU has been bad but much more talented than the other 2.
Especially if that #1 seed is South Florida. If they can comeback and win today, they'd be 41-13, and sitting around #18 in the RPI.
If they could win the conference tournament, they would have a good chance at hosting a regional. The tournament could matter for them.
Re: Regular season finale
3-0 Wave bottom 3. Dehart drives in run with a groundout. So happy to see somebody do that. 5 walks for Sam. Already near 60 pitches.

Re: Regular season finale
UCF defeats USF 3-2 to claim the American regular season title. Houston can claim a share of the title if they hold on and beat Cincinnati.
1. Central Florida
8. East Carolina
4. South Florida
5. Tulane
2. Houston
7. Memphis
3. UConn
6. Cincinnati
Either way, we were going to face a 4 seed with something to play for. UConn will be fighting for their lives to receiver an at-large to the NCAA Tournament. South Florida would have an argument to host a regional still if they can win the conference tournament. We got Houston on the other side of us, but this is still a pretty tough draw.

Got to give UCF and Loveleady a lot of credit. Heck of a job.

Cincinnati has scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th to pull within one run against Houston.
Houston leads 7-6 heading to the bottom of the 8th.

Good to take 2/3 and get some momentum going into next week.
