Nice article about Nico...

Post by long green »

And his draft prospects. Whatever those are, this is good publicity on behalf of a great Tulanian who we'll miss.

Never would have suspected his grandfather was a workout/fitness freak.

Same here. You and I are both of a certain age where I imagine Bob Marley with a perpetual ganja cloud floating around his head.

Yeah, but he was thin and fit. Given the amount of munchies he must have endured, it would make sense he was a work-out freak.

More seriously, very nice article about Nico. Someone's going to get a very cheap special teams stud, at the very least.

Hopefully some team gives Nico a shot. Maybe CJ can muster enough juice to get someone to look.

Between the Glazers and Bensons I'm sure the word has gotten out.

I don't think you could find a Benson anywhere that could tell you the first thing about Nico Marley.

My randomly-picked Aron Residences roommate my 5th year (long story why it wasn't a teammate) was both a huge stoner and a huge workout/fitness freak. Ate healthy, did everything else clean as can be, but smoked up constantly.

Bob Marley had in written into his contract that he played soccer everyday, even when on tour. You guys have never heard the conspiracy theory that the CIA gave him cancer through his running shoes?

Nico was player of the game for the Skins last night. 4 tackles and a sack.

Does it look he might stick with the club? That would be great. I don't follow the Skins.

I have no idea, but hopefully this gets him through the first round of cuts

I'm not up on training camp rituals. Almost from day one he was carrying the pads of veterans. Does every rookie do that regardless of their chance to stick or do most vets lean towards hazing guys that might make the team?

Yes. Carrying pads doesn't make him less likely to make the team, it's just traditional rookie hazing. In fact, it might reflect well because it shows he's not a diva.

The NFL changed the rules for pre-season this year; no more incremental cuts (just a single big one from 90 to 53).

Wouldn't that be harder on the players because they couldn't get picked up by another team who wanted them and still get a little preseason camp to practice? Now if they get cut, it's the start of the season and they'd really be behind the 8 ball in terms of getting a decent shot elsewhere. I realize those cut generally aren't guys who are going to make an impact elsewhere but occasionally there might be a guy who fits another team's needs better or maybe fills an injury spot better than the guys that team had to cut.
