Aaron McKeithan, an earlier recruit, also said Jewett was a big reason he picked Tulane. The young man's brother played on 2 Vandy teams that won 50+ games; and McKeithan said he has known Jewett for years and they talk frequently. Maybe the guy can recruit. From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

"McKeithan said that Tulane’s biggest draws were its reputation for baseball and its coach, Travis Jewett. McKeithan’s older brother, Joel, once played for Jewett at Vanderbilt. “I really like the campus down there (at Tulane),” McKeithan said. “It’s a baseball school. A lot goes into that. And Tulane had the degree that I wanted...”

College of Charleston and Missouri were among the other schools vying for McKeithan.

McKeithan was an All-MAC and All-WNC catcher this spring after batting .404 with 27 RBIs, five home runs and two triples. He hit a team-high 16 RBIs and was walked 23 times. McKeithan was the MVP of April’s IMG Classic tournament in Bradenton, Fla. Roberson has been invited back to that tournament for a third time in 2018."

30 on the ACT. That gets you some academic scholarship money as well (presuming they "stack")

I know this coach is ambitious and there's always attrition, but why on earth would we want commitments from over 102 thousand players?

So we have enough players to have the proper number of offseason scrimmages, of course.

Don't think you will ever see that again. Jewett admitted this one. Just a year too late.

Heh... yeah, right. The money my academic scholarship earned went to Tulane in the form of being less money they paid towards my scholarship. "Oh, you still get your scholarship...." (as they deduct the amount of it from their expense report)

RHP who has touched 96 mph with fastball:
Spencer Oliver:

I see 92 not 96.

PG has him top 200 nationally in his class. Should be a good one.

Tulane49, I don't recall a Goberville playing for Tulane in the last 50 years. Does his father have a different surname.

correct you are visual; wish I had your accurate vision. 92 mph fastball is exactly right, not 96 (yet) for Oliver.

That was my thought (for the last 28, so admittedly the dad could have been before I arrived and therefore I didn't post).

To be clear for everybody what he said was that we didn't have enough healthy pitchers and catchers to scrimmage as much as a team normally would in the fall. It wasn't a coaching decision. It was a decision driven by the situation he inherited.

I have it from a good source that Beloso has rescinded his commitment.

Ah, LSU was able to clear some money from the "under the table illegal alumni donations for paying recruits" coffer, eh?

Zach Goberville's dad, Gary, did attend Tulane. Not sure about his football background.
