Did we really think he would come to Tulane?
This kid will be drafted by MLB

Finished his optometry degree in 1990, which means he would have been at Tulane before me (somewhere in the mid-80s).

Jewett and co. is recruiting! Keep them coming!

Beloso looks great and sure looks like he could help contribute! I hope he makes it to campus. He may be drafted but 5'10" 1B arent typically highly coveted by mlb. See hunter williams...conference player of the year and didnt get drafted and it wasn't because he didnt want too either. Only difference is cade swings LH which will help him somewhat with scouts, but honestly the chances of beloso being conference player of the year at tulane like country was would be very very small even if he did end up here.

I wish him the best and hope he changes his mind!

If TU loses Beloso after he originally committed, that's not a good sign at all! :(

I sure hope Beloso makes it to TU. :-D

apparently we just got another commitment, tweet by Coach TD six-7 minutes ago. And the young man, pitcher John Carlos Ariza of Seton Hall Prep and Bronx Bombers, just confirmed it via Twitter.

Talked to someone close to the situation and my take is it's just a conflicted high school young man.

interesting....i still don't see how that would make him decommit?

Translation: listening to people tell him he should go to the big state school that everyone loves rather than "that high-falutin' tiny school of New Yorkers that stinks in football".

Heard he's also really good football player, no idea if that has anything to do with the decommit decision.

i still don't get it. We've had numerous #1 or #2 propsects at their position in the entire country play at tulane over the years.....not just #1 in their state. Most recently Stephen Alemais. If this kid thinks he's too good for Tulane because he's top 1st baseman in louisianna, well then i wish him well......

let up on the kid. At least he's giving us fair notice that we can't count on him.

I'd say you're overdoing your Jewett partisanship but it's not like there's a lot of demand for that. And it's not like we don't have a crowded anti-Jewett gallery doing business.

No JC's this time. This is not a knock because we lost so many in the incoming class but that he should have contacts with the JC's and that would help with filling holes with a Vet.

The staff will stay after this kid. Recruiting is Jewett's specialty so don't throw in the towel just yet on Beloso.

This is his signature recruit for next year
Jewett will do whatever it takes to keep him unless he goes high in next years MLB draft

Guys not on the list who were earlier commitments:
R. Richert, pitcher: signed with Major League Baseball after their draft
Ryan Calhoun, C/INF -- pretty sure he was a JC player
F. Webber, a pitcher who just had surgery
Caden Doga, power hitter JC
B. Barrett, INF JC
Marshall Rosenberg, INF
Tony Ortiz, JC 1B

wrong class. These guys are signees, Beloso is a recruit for the next class. It's very easy to get this mixed up.

You're right, because we've mixed discussion about the incoming class into a thread about recruits for next year. My bad, I see that now.
