Announced intention to transfer. Can't say we didn't see this coming. He would have started for us last year probably.

I was just coming to search for the Lindsey Scott thread to see just how long I said it would take to transfer.

Can't believe we didn't do one of those "pick the date" pools for this.

Likely no "probably" about it. We probably would have gone bowling (not because Scott is soooo amazing but because he would have fit the offense and we were very close last year even without a QB that fit). Then we might not have gone after Banks. And so on, and so on...

But we can play that game a million times in a million ways. No need... And this is being discussed in the "non-Tulane forum because he's not a recruit right now.

Don't know if we're interested or not, but this is why it's good to have a couple of open scholarships at this time of the year.

FWIW, have heard LSU is trying to get him a JUCO spot in Mississippi which would mean 3 years of eligibility starting 2018.

O's preference is for Scott to stay in state with us. Look for Maryland to be a contender again.

wasn't his Dad (or Mom) that really, really wanted him to sign with LSU? Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else. Scott would have been an ideal fit in Fritz's Offense, wonder if we're even interested anymore.

Better here than JUCO for a year and then facing him running Auburn's offense

Yep. After the camp alliance, O sees protecting Louisiana's borders as a win/win for this scenario. Will see what comes out of it.

I don't give a rat's ass about Ed Orgeron's priorities. If Willie Fritz wants him is what matters. Period. I think the kid needs to go play somewhere for a year if he wants to play for a solid program (AAC or better).

What I want to happen is for us to pass him over and win without him.

to ftw: you do some fine stuff but if I may venture a suggestion please do not get too close to either James Smith or Sam Spiegelman. The former is too shifty and the latter is too dim even to cover recruiting well. If that means covering recruiting at a remove, that's fine. It may even be a better way to cover it.

Lindsey had his chance and chose to by pass us. His loss.

Well said long green! Scott made his bed and slept in it. As for Coach O, who gives a blank what he thinks. As for the 2 recruiting guru's, they're athletic wanabees bought & paid for by the tiggers. Nuff said!

I don't think we need him given the young QB's we have on campus and the ones who are already committed for next year. He screwed up. He should have signed with us when he had the chance.

I think thanks to Khalil McClain and Dane Ledford, we have zero interest in Lindsey Scott unless he plays cornerback... or defensive tackle

Not just any JUCO, but East Mississippi Community College. Wonder if those credits would transfer to Tulane?

So Lindsey picked LSU not TU. Obviously the choice wasn't driven by academics but let's look at purely a college QB perspective.

Here he would have had a legitimate shot at being a starting QB for 3 or 4 years in a system designed around his talents. Not a lock, but a legitimate chance to win and to keep the job.

There he was undeniably a fall back recruit. He was fifth or sixth choice. He doesn't fit any system they've ever run and frankly with the four and five star OL, receivers, and backs they recruit the chances they significantly change their system to suit one three star QB recruit are slim. The chances that next year all of the five or six four and five star QBs they annually recruit snub them late like happened this year are slim. He will likely redshirt there next year and be "recruited over" by some 6-6 250 guy who can throw 70 yards from his knees. If he wants to see the field in any meaningful way he will probably need to change positions or transfer, and even a change of position at LSU probably puts him behind several higher rated players recruited for that position.

I'm not saying all or any of the above absolutely will happen. But it seems more likely than him going there and starting at QB for two or three years or really ever.

As for us, we will be fine.

And as an addendum, next year when they're recruiting that 6-6 five star guy, they'll say "hey, look what we have coming back. No one with your credentials. If you come here you can be the man from day one!" Which makes him being recruited over at lsu all that more likely.

Next year they will have a new coach and he'll transfer somewhere else. Hope he gets paid well while riding the bench for one season.

Move on from this guy. He had his chance last year, could have started, could have helped. Tulane has a good starting QB and two promising guys behind him on the depth chart.
