Tulanians in the NFL - 2017
Some of our former players are getting some looks in the preseason.
Week 1:
Josh Rounds (Chicago) - 11 carries for 20 yards
Nico Marley (Washington) - 4 tackles
Lorenzo Doss - 1 tackle
Julius Warmsley - 1 tackle
Rob Kelley - 3 carries for 2 yards, 1 rec for 5 yards
Ryan Grant - 1 rec for 17 yards
Orleans Darkwa - 3 carries for 18 yards
Ryan Griffin - 4/9 for 57 yards
Tanzel Smart - 1 tackle
Several guys have yet to play in the preseason. Obviously some of the veterans won't play much or at all in the preseason.
Taurean Nixon was released by the Jaguars before last night's game. Royce LaFrance didn't record any stats with the Saints last night. Any word on him?

From what I saw when they showed Trubisky highlights, Doss was prominently featured (not in a good way...).

What happened to Lazedrick Thompson. Thought he signed with Arizona?

I don't see him listed as on their roster right now. If he is on the roster, he didn't have any touches in the hall of fame game last weekWavery wrote:What happened to Lazedrick Thompson. Thought he signed with Arizona?

Updated the op with last night's stats. Cairo didn't kick for KC due to a groin injury. He should still be on track to be the Chiefs kicker this season. Tanzel should see some action with the rams this evening.

Tanzel did some stuff with the 2s, deflected a pass, got a tackle, made a couple QB hurries, and recovered a fumble tonight. Never really looked outmatched by OL even if he wasn't devouring double teams.

Preseason Week 2:
Three games last night, more to come over the weekend. I'll update as I can. No play time for Ryan Griffin last night, perhaps due to injury.
Julius Warmsley - 2 tackles
Ryan Grant - 2 catches for 7 yards
Rob Kelley - 9 carries for 9 yards, 1 catch for 5 yards
Nico Marley - 4 tackles
Tanzel Smart - 1 tackle
Josh Rounds - 9 carries for 18 yards, 1 catch for 13 yards
Orleans Darkwa - 4 carries for 11 yards
No tackles for Doss this week. Cairo still not kicking for the Chiefs.

Of interest because some of Tulane's NFL players are listed. Talk about sloppy though, Rene forgot to list Rob Kelley, maybe others from New Orleans.

It wouldn't surprise me either way. We knew it was a long shot going in but he's had enough notice to maybe catch on.Cheerleader wrote:In DC this week, and the Post shows probable depth chart for Redskins. Nico is not on it.

I caught a bit of the Bears game and thought Rounds looked surprisingly good.

Preseason Week 4:
Julius Warmsley - 2 tackles, 1 sack
Nico Marley - 4 tackles, 1 sack
Tanzel Smart - 1 QB hit
Josh Rounds - 11 carries for 35 yards, 1 catch for 5 yards
Orleans Darkwa - 6 carries for 40 yards, 1 catch for 9 yards
Lorenzo Doss - 2 passes defended
Cairo Santos - 1/1 FG, 3/4 PATs
No stats for Rob Kelley or Ryan Grant. Not sure either of them played much. Nico led the team in tackles last night.
Final cut downs for rosters will happen by tomorrow so we'll see where a lot of these guys end up. I think Smart, Kelley, Grant, Santos, Doss, and Darkwa are all in good shape. Warmsley, Marley, and Rounds will be up in the up air. Good luck to all the guys!

Re: Tulanians in the NFL - 2017
Rounds got a ton of carries in preseason. If he is cut, I'm sure he'll be resigned by Bears for practice squad (or whatever they call it now) or better yet perhaps signed by another team?
I just find it strange as to how the Bears worked him so much in preseason just to cut him at the finish line but we'll find out shortly.

Saints have one spot left, but they already have an undersized LB on the PS.waverider wrote:Marley was cut by the Redskins after being named Player of the Game for two of their preseason games.

The Rams put out an unofficial depth chart today that listed Tandem as a starter. Good going even if it is due to injury (I don't know if it's or not).

Yes. He may come back this week (doubtful), but he would probably need some time to get up to speed anyway.krewe of ham and eggs wrote:Isn't he holding out for a new contract?gerryb323 wrote:It is (Aaron Donald is out), but congrats nonetheless!long green wrote:The Rams put out an unofficial depth chart today that listed Tandem as a starter.
