Great win. Things really clicking offensively. Please nobody complain.

Did you read the scoreboard? We fired out DB coach in the 3rd quarter.NJwave wrote:Great win. Things really clicking offensively. Please nobody complain.

Re: Tulane 62 Tulsa 28
Overall - awesome job. The things to be fixed are obvious. Secondary got burned 4 times and it could have been more. That has to be fixed first. Special teams with the 6-yd punt and the missed PAT (plus one tipped that got through) still needs improvement. The penalties were cleaned up after half time, but we had 3 personal fouls in the first half and that was a good percentage of Tulsa's overall offense at that point.
That's the bad, but the good was AWESOME!!! Way to bring the pain today guys. Roll wave!!

The DBs might be the only ones not smiling but 62 points cures a lot of ills.

Still have work to do. Special Teams get a C-, DBs a D-.
Banks is the real deal, a playmaker. Get him in space and he'll make plays. We have a great running game, just need to work on passing, which we did well today. Love the short pass play to Jones.
OL and DL get As--they dominated. USF will be our defining moment for this season.
We are very well coached for the most part. No turnovers today. Again.
My favorite play was when the Tulsa QB scrambled outside and tried to run upfield; Sean Wilson just knocked the snot out of him like a flea on a Mack truck.

We are in agreement. Some guy I've never heard of had 2 carries is a win. It says it all. 3-2 is better than any of us realistically expected. Enjoy the big win. I honestly thought we'd be 4-1 and we were darn close it. How would "4-1(2-0) with only loss being to Oklahoma" feel? Seriously, we should be in that spot.NJwave wrote:3-2 is better than any of us realistically expected.
As a friend texted me in the 2nd quarter: "we apparently need a bye every other week and a 10 am start for all our games."

Fantastic! Tulsa sucks and we didn't give them a chance to prove otherwise. Total annihilation. Bow down to the Tulane Green Wave, o defeated one.

It started pouring rain soon after the end of the game and I just heard thunder. When things go right . . .

Two lessons:
Banks is the real deal
Tulsa is really bad

Re: Tulane 62 Tulsa 28
Happy to see the TE’s get involved in the Offense. Jones is a weapon we need to use. I fullly understand why WF went so hard after Banks he’s the real deal at QB. We haven’t had a dual threat QB this good since S. King. And he can make this Offense hum. Last observation it looked to me like the Defense just lost its focus after we got the big lead. All things that can be easily fixed.
Finally to see a TU team come out prepared and ready to play in a big game was a massive breath of fresh air.

There was every chance for distraction with the storm coming and moving start times. This is a well-coached team.
It wasn't perfect, but it was a thorough whoopin'. Coaches have some things to emphasize in the film room (looking at you DBs), but a quality win, even though Tulsa is really pretty bad. Also probably the best game I've seen the OL play in at least a decade. We OWNED the line of scrimmage all day.

Re: Tulane 62 Tulsa 28
We were debating it up in the box, but we don’t think we’ve ever played a 10 am start before. We’re pretty sure back to 1957, but not sure about some games in the 1920s, which did have some odd start times (though sensible for a pre electric light era).
Why bother back that far? We were on pace most of the gane to set records last seen back in the 1912s era.
Tulsa may indeed be bad, but we took advantage and never gave them hope. They looked ready to leave yesterday.

At the end of the day, it's not the end of the world.

Did you watch the game? Our DBs need to good talking to and we had way too many mental penalties plus our kicker made me sadNJwave wrote:Great win. Things really clicking offensively. Please nobody complain.

Would have hoped the talk was after the Oklahoma game. Short memories - obviously.windywave wrote:Did you watch the game? BTW - Iowa St. leading Oklahoma 38-31 w/1:30 left in the game.

Just got back to the Slidell stronghold. This box score is... ...it's beautifully cruel. 43 MINUTES OF POSSESSION.
