Fats Domino dies, aged 89

Post by long green »

Sad but not surprising news. Towering figure in the history of New Orleans music and rock and roll. Bless his memory.

He was a big contributor to the soundtrack of my youth.
I wonder if he'll like Heaven as much as he loved New Orleans.

The world is a good bit darker today

Half a century and his sound still seems fresh. Sad day

For me it’ll always be Blue Monday followed by Walking to New Orleans

When I was a kid and had my driver's license we would drive by this house hoping he was outside so we could tell him Hi. Just to see him was special. His music was with my generation growing up in New Orleans every day from grammar school through college. As Roller said - he was the was a 'big contributor'. And as the Beatles said their major early influence was Fats.

2nd line Wednesday at 5

I usually avoid such because it’s hipster paradise. But Fats means that much to me. Good weather = I’m there

I went. And I'm glad I did: Fats means/meant that much to me. But man oh man, celebrity death second lines are, or at least have become, the sole possession of hipsters and air-b-n-b tourists.
