I get why some don't like them but when your name is "green," it seems any alternative just raises questions.

This would've been a great time to test if those gray pants really are cursed. Losing to THIS ECU team would confirm the hypothesis.

From what I've been told, if the kids playing football, baseball or basketball had their choice, they would wear the blue every game.Baywave1 wrote:I get why some don't like them but when your name is "green," it seems any alternative just raises questions.
The blue will allegedly be starting to become more prominent around campus as all students have taken a liking to it.

Regardless of opinion on it being used for uniforms, what is this nonsense that green is Tulane's primary color with blue being a sometimes-used accent? That might be how it's been functionally for years, but Tulane (the university, not the sports team) has two colors: Olive Green and Sky Blue. In fact the "Green Wave" moniker didn't even come about until years of us being "The Olive and Blue." So like...have your personal preferences and make your argument about it being weird now that we're the Green Wave and all, but it's an established fact the university has two colors. It's not like there's a written code that says one is more important than the other.

Not only do I agree I think it’s so blatantly obvious it shouldn’t have to be said. I can’t think of a single other school that tries to invent silly arguments about how one of their colors isn’t “really” one of their colors.tumbuuh wrote:Regardless of opinion on it being used for uniforms, what is this nonsense that green is Tulane's primary color with blue being a sometimes-used accent? And I also agree about how we all (myself fully included) are ridiculous for filling 8 pages on uniforms. Let’s hope that doesn’t mean 8 losses Or if it does, that we won’t make a ninth page

b) The arguments are not "silly"; calling them such, especially for a johnnie-come-lately, is the height of ridiculousness.
If people want our teams to wear blue and risk being identified with {shudder!} UNC, then I am but one voice, and I am not so hung up on my own opinion that I would absolutely insist that it not be done. But for the sake of propriety, if we're going to wear blue, let's change our name, because "Green Wave" would be wildly inappropriate for a team clad in something other than green. Perhaps, since "Tigers" is the most preferred mascot in college football, we could become the Tulane Tigers (unless we opted for something "banana-sluggish" and chose something like, say, "Tulane Fighting Cloud Formation").

Arguments that we should wear green more than blue are not necessarily silly, Roller, that's not what I said. Arguments that its somehow more our "real" color, are. And you know that (you just don't like it). meanwhile, if there is one thing that Tulane desperately needs, its about 10-20K more johnny come latelys

Re: Gratuitous uniform thread 2017...
well, let's look at another school whose color is in their "moniker". The Alabama Crimson Tide. So what color do we see them in? Red right? Who can guess what their school colors are? Officially they are:
Crimson PMS 201
White
Warm Gray PMS 10
Black
Now imagine a home Alabama game where their predominant color is Warm Gray, with red accents. Ever seen that? Would it come across as confusing to its fans? That's how some of feel when we see the Tulane Green Wave dressed out in blue.

Re: Gratuitous uniform thread 2017...
This is getting beaten to death. People have opinions. They don't always agree.
Tradition wise we have worn lots of green, but there's no hard and fast rule saying it's mandatory or a sin if we don't. I'd be willing to bet Alabama has worn gray or even black jerseys before in basketball. I know for a fact there's no true yellow in Georgia Tech's ensemble. Just let it alone.
