Basically what you are saying is they are no longer allowed to have space battles or planet surface battles because if they do, they are just ripping off previous episodes. And you think the Monte Carlo (way better analogy than Vegas) place is even a tiny fraction closer to Tatooine than Maz's place in TFA? That was literally cantina full of weird creatures, exactly like New Hope. The new place is significantly more... human.

It is is the way the space and ground battles were portrayed that was ripped off

Alright, so if TFA was 85% ripped off from previous episodes, TLJ was... maybe 40%.

That is reaching a bit. They are just looking to cover the pile that Last Jedi was.OGSB wrote:George Lucas reveals his plan for Star Wars 7 through 9—and it was awful

Just a comment on Star wars.
We are big Disney fans; just back from the West Coast, where we could plainly see the new "Star Wars" land taking shape at Disneyland. In three weeks will be a WDW while daughter goes through orientation at UCF (she claims she wants to do Engineering, theatre or Music, but I really think she wants to major in Disney...); will be curious to see what it looks like at Hollywood studios, where they are also building a Star Wars land.

For any of you Star Wars Nerds- the new Star Wars section is opening in late May in Disneyland. One of the two attractions is opening August 29 (the Thursday before Labor Day Weekend) in WDW's Hollywood Studios.
The scuttlebutt is that there will be no "Fast Passes" for either of the Galaxy's Edge attractions for at least a year. Will certainly be a premium attraction! My daughter is looking at reserving a room with friends, getting in line at 3 or 4 am that morning.

More specifically their fanboy dads who are all offended that TLJ wasn't EXACTLY what they wanted and refuse to let their kids watch in protest.Poseidon wrote:OGSB wrote:Should’ve quit with Empire:

I am not a "fanboy" and have never bought any star wars merch. I loved the original trilogy and the Luke that was in TLJ was not the same Luke from the OT. It was a depressing husk of that character. It took the great character arc of Luke from the OT and just threw it out the window. Aside from that the movie was disjointed and didn't match with The Force Awakens. It was like rubbish fan fiction. Hopefully Abrams will turn it around.

Re: Star Wars, still on people's minds
While the is some truth is that, i didn't want anything but a continuation of..you know...the actual charter from the trilogy and certainly had no exact wants or expectations. Mark Hamil literally told the director that this wasn't the Luke from the OT. I guess Mark was a "fan boy" too and should be dismissed as well.PeteRasche wrote:Thanks for confirming my point.Poseidon wrote:... the Luke that was in TLJ was not the same Luke from the OT. Re: Star Wars, still on people's minds
Hell, I lost interest when I had to start figuring out the timeline.
I was a big fan of the Saturday Matinee serials at the movies in the 50s (Rocketman/Commado Cody, Lash Larue, etc.), which appeared in sequence each week Presenting the Star Wars series out of order went against my fragile sensibilities. I gave up after the first few.
