Happy anniversary to the return of Tulane Men's Basketball

Post by PeteRasche »

The team started playing again in November 1989 but "returned" 28 years ago tonight, 1/11/90, when the Wave took down #20 Memphis State, 81-80. I still have a champagne bottle cork that some friends popped afterwards.

I fouled out of that stupid game, too. One of only like 2 or 3 games in my entire life I fouled out. Joe Passi was in the game at the final buzzer and is in the iconic photo by Jerry Ward showing the court and the scoreboard as the buzzer sounded. Oh well. :-D

Pete, at least you were a part of Tulane basketball history. No one will forget that game.

You were IN THE GAME! Given another foot in height and athletic talent, we might have been too. You should be proud as he!!.
