So why doesn’t our next door neighbor Loyola have a good DI squad? I know an exception doesn’t disprove a rule, but New Orleans is about as Catholic as one can get in the US.

Just joking and not trying to make this some silly argument but after growing up here and then moving to New Orleans for college, it was something new to me to NOT have Catholic churches with attached grade schools on virtually every corner.

As I said, not trying to make this into an argument. Folks from both sides could point to stats proving their points (I could counter the percentage number claimed above if I wanted to bother). As windy said, obviously there are way more Catholics in Chicago than either of these cities, but also obviously way more people period. And definition of "city" is at odds because some cities are way more suburban (outside city limits), so stats are harder to assemble.

Did you see the owner of a small casino in Vegas was able to get a bet placed at the Golden Nugget on Michigan at 40:1 (at start of tourney), and put down $25,000? If Michigan wins, the casino pays $1.025M. The largest payout the Golden Nugget had previously ever made was under $100K. Think the owner of the Nugget (who also owns the Houston Rockets) is rooting for Villanova a bit?

Mine also. I remember one game we played at home vs the University of South Alabama and they really had a very good team and Phil was with the Wave then. It was after college roundball outlawed the dunk. Really close game the whole the way through but the Wave finally pulled away as the clock would down to zero. Phil got a pass on the baseline and instead of just running out the clock he drove the baseline and dunked. Yea it didn't count and was a techinical foul, but it absolutely brought the house down.

I was in San Antonio for about 3 hours Saturday morning (the day of the semis). TONS of Michigan and Kansas fans. A fair smattering of Nova fans, though noticeably less. Loyola fans were few and far between.
