UNO takes the series, painful dirge march for TU Baseball
Re: UNO takes the series, painful dirge march for TU Basebal
The endowment needs to be increased to be able to give out the financial aid the other privates do.
We deserve so much better

Tjtlja has already mentioned it before how Pierce's own main recruiter, Allen, left for Alabama b/c he didn't realize how hard it would be to recruit here. Many other reasons have been listed multiple times. Jewett will be given a chance to even out & stabilize his roster & build it without temporary fillers from Juco's or grad transfers. This was a rebuilding year with a little hope for upside. Still don't understand how people are surprised. If you fire a coach 2 years in without having even 2 whole recruiting classes, nobody will bother coming here.
You're killin' me Smalls!!!

Do you think it’s fair to evaluate based partly on the improvement or decline of the team from beginning to end of season?

McAffer's immaculate inning last night was pretty neat. A lot of us will go the rest of our lives without seeing one, much less pitching one.
there's some Tulane Baseball sunshine pumpin' for ya. Don't ask for more

win in football, more people will donate and feel connected to school. then we can help baseball.
recent article up here about how Loyola Chicago's donations are sky rocketing.

This is not an athletics issue, it's a university issue. The football team bringing in an extra $1MM...5MM...20MM (let's get crazy!) in donations isn't going to solve the tuition problem we have.Yankeewave wrote:win in football, more people will donate and feel connected to school. then we can help baseball.

Let's take Stanford for example. If your parents make less than $125k/yr, you pay no tuition to attend Stanford. That's for all students (it would be against NCAA rules to do so for only baseball players). If you make less than $65k/yr room and board is also covered. This is not about donors, it's about endowments, and they've got ~$20B on us there.Fanowave wrote:rjc, I've seen that mentioned on the board before but how can they do that without running afoul of the NCAA scholarship cap? I'd like to know how TU could make that arrangement with the fat cat donors.

Bingo. If the Ivies wanted to turn the full weight of their endowments into sports, or heck just make it tuition free for all students, they could. They’d have no peers.ml wave wrote:Let's take Stanford for example. If your parents make less than $125k/yr, you pay no tuition to attend Stanford. I stand corrected.
You are right.
