It has to be a huge morale booster to break through like that, on the road nonetheless, where we have obviously struggled. This would be a really good time for us to get hot

I'd like to take the series just for RPI purposes. I'd make a positive comment be we all know how people respond to having a positive outlook for this team.

Who gets upset about a positive outlook? I certainly don’t.windywave wrote:I'd like to take the series just for RPI purposes. I'd make a positive comment be we all know how people respond to having a positive outlook for this team.
Now when I give a realistic outlook you and a few others cry about it. But you can have whatever outlook you want.

Let’s all just enjoy this one, I know we needed it. Sometimes I feel like Wave fans have become so cynical that we don’t know how to enjoy a big win. I’m not talking about anyone in particular or calling anybody out either. Now everybody hold hands

Still have to win 1 more this weekend for it to be a big win.speckled trout wrote:Let’s all just enjoy this one, I know we needed it. We will need Gillies to pitch like he had been because I don’t have much faith in us winning Saturday games. Need to keep hitting the ball. We could also use 7 more errors from Wichitavisualmagic wrote:Still have to win 1 more this weekend for it to be a big win.speckled trout wrote:Let’s all just enjoy this one, I know we needed it. While the 7 errors helped, they happened because we were putting the ball in play with hard hits. We walked more than our average and limited the strikeouts.

Re: Tulane 19 - Wichita State 4
I lost track after the 4th error or so but a couple of them were gifts and they just muffed em. *anything* hit in play had a shot today, and we didn't play the field all that hot either (being up by 15 for most of the game tends to make that less significant). After the 30 minute 2nd they looked ready to hit some quick outs and go inside. Casual disinterest in seeing the ball into your glove is an understatement for them.
Re: Tulane 19 - Wichita State 4
This would be the perfect weekend to have Gillies start pitching on Saturdays. Your two best pitchers should be your Friday and Saturday guys. Johnny wholestaff on Sundays, plus gives you the best chances at winning weekend series

I don’t see the big deal here. Having Gillies, our best pitcher, go against the number 3 starter for the other team should actually give us a huge advantage on Sundays. I’m not sure how him going on Saturday really helps us.Wavemania wrote:This would be the perfect weekend to have Gillies start pitching on Saturdays. we might as well ruin the chances of other teams to get into the NCAAs
i think we lost 2/3 to them a few years back when we were right on the cusp of making the tourney. let's repay favor

https://d1baseball.com/roundup/d1-diges ... y-april-6/2. Tulane crushes Wichita State on the road
Perhaps the Shockers had a rough hangover from last weekend’s series loss at East Carolina. Returning home this weekend, the Shocks dropped the series opener to Tulane by a, no pun intended, shocking 19-4 score. Wichita State righthander Codi Heuer had a night to forget, allowing nine runs, eight earned, on seven hits in just 1.1 innings. Meanwhile, Tyler Davis had the bizarre line of tossing three innings and allowing seven runs … none of them earned. What the heck? It was just that kind of day for Todd Butler’s club.
Give Tulane’s offense serious credit for capitalizing. David Bedgood smacked a pair of doubles and knocked in two runs, while Grant Witherspoon tallied there hits. Furthermore, Jonathon Artigues, Kody Hoese, Trevor Jensen, Ty Johnson, Acy Owen and Sal Gozzo each had two hits in the big win for the Green Wave.

Great win. Can't remember the last time we put up that many runs. Maybe this is a turning point!
