ETSU sinks Green Wave

Post by Roller »

Bad beat by ETSU. Wave lost 9-1. ETSU filled the scorebook with starred defensive plays.

After they scored 8 in the second inning, they didn't score again until the 9th.

Perhaps a DH tomorrow (announcement in the AM).

Not really. Sweep this weekend Memphis and 2 of three from ECU and we were fine

Fine in regards to what?
Certainly not making a regional.

Sigh. Look at where that would have put us statistically i.e. regular season champs and close to a 40 RPI with a SOS in the top 35ish.

You’re adding a lot more to the equation now.
We have 8 tough road games left that you didn’t account for in your original post. We’ 3-12 on the road, we could easily go 2-6 in those games. That would put us at 28-28.

I’m just being honest, we’re really bad on the road. Regardless of what happened last night, we were going to have 8 tough road games left. It’s just realistic to say we were in bad shape prior to last nights loss.

Not true at all but it’s tough to get excited about any individual wins when the overall record is as bad as it is.

What’s the expectation for next year BACON?

Tough start for Price. I guess TJ wanted to give him a chance to work his way out of the 2nd inning jam after the missed fly in LF. I don't score the games but would be curious to know how many fly balls by us were recorded as outs. Do we need to change our approach? We don't have the power in our lineup that was there last year when we hit 70 HRs. I know I'm old school but still believe that solid singles lead to HRs. I believe in this team. If we can come back from 10 runs down in the 6th inning a la Houston, we can certainly make a run during the remainder of the season. Just not the way we played and hit last night.

I'm as big of a Pollyanna as anyone, but going into last night, the best I was hoping for was to finish at .500 or above. After last, night, I'm not real hopeful about that either, considering what we have left. Does anyone honestly think we could still have a shot as an at-large, or make it all the way through the conference tourney with the pitching that we have? Sitting through the second inning last night was pretty miserable.

They are only used for one day a year (maybe 3 as I don’t remember if it was Mental Health Awareness day or weekend). Not like they are incorporating it into the normal rotation.

I was curious if it was national thing or just something a Tulane did. I noticed ETSU had green arm bands which could have been provided by Tulane.

Were any other teams wearing the highlighter green in their games last night?

We’re pretty bad at home too :? But you’re right, we are really bad on the road and those aren’t easy opponents we’ll be facing on the road.

If we do happen to win every remaining conference series and the regular season title, it would give us a much better chance at being a 4 seed somewhere, but winning the tournament is likely our only option at this point and that will be hard to do with barely 3 reliable pitchers.

I’m always here. It just so happens that since last season we’ve done a lot more losing than winning.

What do you care anyway? You should just sit tight until 2021.

I've always said he needs time to actually recruit his own players & not use stopgaps. Next year he has a nice pitching staff coming in & by that time our young pitchers will have an actual full year of pitching at real college level. Hitting will only improve if we can stay healthy. The fact that he has tons of kids actually wanting to come here should be a very good sign. Next year will be way more balanced with the pitching staff from top to bottom.

You never stick your nuts out there. Why don't you make a prediction instead of asking others for theirs?

Huh? I did make my prediction. I told you in March of last year that 2018 would be bad. I said it’d probably be worse than 2017. I said that there’d be no Regional
