Will the field be playable? It appears they are receiving a lot of rain. I hope that park drains well.

Looks like the bulk of the rain has already cleared out of the Hartford area.

Just saw where the two games in Hartford will be on WatchESPN.

Not only ranked, but currently projected as a national seed by some.

Drizzling here right now, but it rained pretty hard earlier. If it's a decent Minor league grounds crew, should be ok. Hell, we played in the pouring rain and 38 degrees a couple of years ago in Storrs. This is nice weather compared to then!

Not able to make it tonight, but will be there tomorrow, with projected nicer weather.

Temps will be in the mid-50s. Rain probability is less than 50% at game time, decreasing to 10% by 10pm.

How many times have we had the bases loaded and failed to score. I've lost count.

And Spoon's grand slam salves (hopefully for good) the bases loaded curse.

RPI at 85. What might have been.

Selection day is going to be very interesting for our league. Houston leads with an RPI of 67.Wichita State is in 8th but with a great non conference record and RPI. ECU, USF and UCONN are locks. UCF with an RPI in the 40s. I guess we get 4 bids and somebody is passed over for an undeserving SEC team (see a certain team that is 3-11 on the road and has an RPI below UCF.

Son, we win this series, sweep Memphis win the other two series we are over .500 sitting around 40 to 50 RPI with a top 25 to 35 or better SoS and with the right breaks winning the regular season aka getting a bid

Just back from the game. First of all, Ernie Banks would have wanted to play 3, not 2, if they had a day like today. Absolutely perfect for baseball!

The park is spectacular. Not sure if it's worth the 1-year delay, massive overrun, and ongoing legal battles, but they did it right. As good as any park out there.

Decent crowd for a college baseball game in a non-college town, and considering where they normally play is on the level of Kirsch Rooney. Maybe.

I did not see Spoon's salami go over, as we were trying to sit in the shade, and the left field pole corner was the one thing I could not see. It seems like it barely cleared.

Hoese's bomb (I think it was him) cleared the foul pole. From where I was it looked fair, but again, I did not have the best angle. Glad we didn't need it.

Gillies was money all day. Jewett started warming up someone in the 6th when things got a little dicey, but I was going to lose my mind if he had done the premature yank. Glad he worked his way out of it and finished it off with ease.

So awesome to have gone as I get to see 1-2 games every other year at best. Sure hope UConn keeps playing there in the future - looks like the first 2 games of their Houston series is scheduled there as well. Loved to see the American tourney there!

FWIW, D1 Baseball's projection this week has:

ECU - National Seed 7
UConn - National Seed 11
USF (#2)
UCF (#3)
Wichita State (#3)

The way things are shaking out, I assume Wichita falls out (they may lose their UCF series tonight, meaning they've lost every AAC series in their history except with us).

Meanwhile, Houston just took down ECU and is in the process of getting their RPI in range. Hard to imagine a scenario where they don't get in if they win the regular season of a 4-5 bid league.

For us, the 4-10 mark against Top 50 (3-10 entering today) is an anchor, and only slightly better than a dreadful Memphis. Get another shot tomorrow. A win would move us into the mid to low 70s (97 to 84 today).

Nevertheless, this team has improved from Day 1 no matter how the season shakes out. We should return everyone next year and with a pitching nucleus of Roper, Keagan, Bates, Pellerin, McAffer, Soleski (provided he is healthy), and Ross (I will never give up on him), plus all the new additions, things look positive moving forward. The positions that will be up for grabs next year are catcher, two of the outfield positions and possibly SS if we sign a kid that can flat out hit.

Today was a good day. Keagan’s ERA keeps moving south and we beat a very good team. I wish Jewett would have changed the weekend rotation six weeks ago because our record may be two to four games better, but better late than never.

I thought national seeds were 1-8 only. Sixteen hosts in round one, but only national seeds “expected” to reach Omaha.
