From WF's stomping grounds, Suwanee, GA.
Zach has picked up an offer from SMU. His first Power6 offer. Expect to see more in the coming months.

https://247sports.com/Player/Zach-Calzada-46051591
Offer list now includes: Mizzou, West VA., Minn, NC State, Northwestern, Cincy, Pitt, Syracuse and LOTS of G5 schools.

Edit: Add Vandy to the list.
He's probably out of Tulane's league at this point. I'm sure his dad would have liked to have at least seen the offer.

One would assume Tulane is aware of Zach as they seem to cover all points N S E W in recruiting Georgia. Maybe FTW can shed some light ...

There’s a QB from Texas, Chase Griffin, that picked up his first offer from North Texas today.

His attributes per his own Twitter:
-#1 2019 QB TX 5A/6A in EVERY passing category two years in a row
-4.0 NCAA Core GPA
-Team Captain
-Semper Fidelis All-American
-AP and TSWA All-State
-Jr. Season. 272-405 (67%). 4,138 Yds. 40 Tds - 4 INTs. 3 Rush TDs.
Might be worth keeping an eye on. Doesn’t appear to be a runner.

He camped at Tulane when CJ was here.

Agreed LG. We are a viable choice against that list.

I'll say one thing for this Staff that I've liked, if they really like a kid they're not afraid to go toe to toe with a P5 school(s) or the top tier teams in the AAC. After some initial setbacks his first few yeas here they had a great year last year. And we landed a class I'm still giddy about.

Calzada is a good player, but he's not really a good fit in our system. He needs to be in an offense that allows him to stand in the pocket and throw. He fits best in an air raid system like Washington State. He does not move very well, his arm is average and he's not good throwing on the run. We'd have to adjust our offense and our offensive philosophy quite a bit to accommodate him, so he'd be pretty far down on our QB wish list...and I'd expect that our system is not one he'd be very excited about playing in either. Just not a good fit for either party.

With all these offers, do we have any commitments?

Not yet. I'd expect a handful by the 4th of July, though. Summer is usually when we start seeing kids commit...when they can get out on the road and make unofficial visits and start going to camps.
