AAC in the NCAA Baseball Tourney
Just in case anyone is wondering, four AAC teams made it to the tournament.
ECU is hosting with South Carolina, Ohio St., and UNC-Wilmington as the 2-4 seeds.
UConn got a 2 seed in Coastal Carolina's regional along with Washington as the 3 and LIU Brooklyn as the 4.
USF got a 2 seed in Stetson's regional along with Oklahoma St. as the 3 and Hartford as the 4.
Houston got a 3 seed in UNC's regional along with Purdue as the 2 and NC A&T as the 4.
Wouldn't mind seeing one or more make a deep run for the conference. The AAC's four bids was tied with the Pac-12 and Big Ten for fourth most among all conferences.

I read that UCF was one of the first left out.

Interesting note on this year's regional pairings per Kendall Rogers:
Did some digging on this. One reason many West Coast schools are grouped together.
* California public schools could not go to regionals in Texas, North Carolina and Mississippi.
* Washington public schools could not go to North Carolina or Mississippi.
Those were two factors.

Re: AAC in the NCAA Baseball Tourney
I actually believe that is false. The only time they couldnt go or would need a waiver is if it was a predetermined site, like Omaha. Ad hoc is fine. Maybe they tightened their laws or more likely the administration is aggressively interpretingwaverider wrote:Interesting note on this year's regional pairings per Kendall Rogers:

Another tidbit that is AAC news.
According to a USF blogger on Twitter, USF didn't even put in a bid to host a regional this year which is why they are traveling.

I hope they do well but hey didn't deserve to host that's why they are traveling. He needs a dose of reality.
We deserve so much better

It's not much traveling anyway. I think their campuses are like 45 minutes apart.
Re: AAC in the NCAA Baseball Tourney
The writer of the article implies that they would be hosting if they tried. I didn't read the article but "unfairness to USF players" seems to be the focus.wavedom wrote:I hope they do well but hey didn't deserve to host that's why they are traveling. He needs a dose of reality.
Even if they weren't going to get a host site anyway I can see the complaint of being unfair to the athletes if they didn't even try.

UConn unraveled in the late innings and loses 7-1 to Washington. Gets the 11:00 AM elimination game tomorrow.
USF is currently trailing in Deland.

2-2 in the opening game. Houston over Purdue and ECU over UNCW. USF and UConn will have to come out of the loser's bracket
