12 games, 15 wins ?

I'm guessing you're joking about going to the Playoff and winning it all.

If we ran the table we would probably get in, but only because we would have beaten Ohio State.

windy I see you're channeling the Spirit of Roller

seriously, I hope the players and coaches go into each game thinking they have a chance of winning it. Just as an aside, looking at the Conference games I've realized how attractive, from a fan's POV the AAC has become. Some really good teams there.

Only difference is I would maybe swap Wake and Hosuton, but with a back up QB, Wake may not be as tough that early.

I guess I'm dying on the Wake Forest hill. I think y'all are seriously underrating how much they bring back from a really strong team last year:

1. Ohio State
2. Wake Forest
3. Memphis
4. USF
5. Hosuton
6. Navy
7. UAB
8. SMU
9. Cincinnati
10. Tulsa
11. ECU
12. Nicholls

The computer rankings put Wake as our second toughest opponent and that’s probably accurate. I don’t know if that was before the QB was suspended or if it takes that into account.

I still go with Poseidon’s list. To me, Wake can’t be ranked 3rd with the fact that they’ll be starting an untried QB. In fact, going over Wake’s previews I was struck by their not very good numbers on defense (6 returning starters this year). Even with Hinton they’ll be hard pressed to repeat their 2017 offensive results which will put much more pressure on their D.

Thanks.

Wake was my wild card. I could have moved them up one or down several. I see them winning the line on both sides of the ball, especially if we can't pose a passing threat deep. That's why I have them up there. But their (quite bad) run defense last year coupled with lack of QB could easily make them move down.

I wouldn't be shocked if we won by several touchdowns (in which case they should be further down my life). I wouldn't be shocked if we lost by several.

But they are a hard fish to measure until you get them on the boat.

And to be able to beat SMUt this year, we only really need to be 2" better. In theory at least.

Speaking of Wake and QB, from the WInston Salem paper:

The hardest to measure in my opinion is UAB. Last year they won a good bit, but it was a pretty soft schedule. They could have a pretty low ceiling. You would think they would improve from last year just based on the fact it will be the programs second year back.

I’d say low ceiling, high floor is a good way to describe UAB.

UAB definitely feels like a bowl team. Hard to say much more about them than that right now. they do have a really solid coach in Bill Clark.
