Biggest disappointment in CFB for 2018.
Not an easy pick this year. I’ll go with Washington. I expect them to be good but many media types think they could be a playoff team. I don’t like their opener in Atlanta vs. Auburn. That’s a road game, not a neutral site game. I also think their senior QB may have hit his head on his ceiling last year. Finally, I just can’t buy a PAC 12 team as a NC contender until I see otherwise. The favorites always seem to stub their toe in league play.
I was tempted to pick Wisconsin due to their 2 games vs top 3 teams in the other, stronger division but at the end of the day I think they’ll still cruise to the Big 10 title game.

I say Auburn. They have a history of being inconsistent. They looked a lot worse on offense last year when Carry-on Johnson was getting touches.

A good coach (Washington) can go a long way though.

South Carolina. They won 9 games last year and finished second in the east, but they played up or down depending on the competition. They won some close ones that i think they might lose this year.

It's not a disappointment if your not expecting much. More of a "most likely to be mediocre." So I get your point.windywave wrote:Isn't always UVA?

How does this thread get this far with no mention of #25 LoSer-U? Not only will they not finish the season ranked, I question whether they'll make a bowl at all.
Of course, I won't be exactly disappointed by that result, so may be that's it....

No one’s expecting anything from them, how can they disappoint? It’s rich to see how excited they get over Ohio St’s 3rd string QB from last year plus the reinstatement of a guy who hasn’t played much. The lack of a typical LSU starting back is what keeps them down this year.GretnaGrn wrote:How does this thread get this far with no mention of #25 LoSer-U? Their defense scares me. Arranda is still a good coach and they have a ton of talent.long green wrote:No one’s expecting anything from them, how can they disappoint? It has to be Auburn, right? They can't have 2 good seasons in a row.
Re: Biggest disappointment in CFB for 2018.
That LSU has not received the death penalty, just out of principle.
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?

LSU-Alabama will be a matchup of unbeatens
OK, so one part of this isn't bold. Predicting Alabama to lose would be. But I'm not that brave. LSU enters the season with a stifling defense and offensive question marks. In order to get to November blemish-free, the Tigers must beat Miami, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi State. Brace yourselves. It will happen and the teams will enter No. 1 and No. 2.

Re: Biggest disappointment in CFB for 2018.
Ugh. Every year these sports writers hit a point where they can't beat any other dead horses any more (currently, the Urban Meyer situation) and they throw out one of these garbage stories. They couch it in "bold predictions" which is their out, meaning "I don't think any of this will actually happen". Then they secretly hope some of it does so they can point to it and show how smart they are. But none of it ever happens. It's like an "everything to gain, nothing to lose" move, but shows absolutely nothing regarding any knowledge of the game.

0 for those games is far more likely than undefeated.OGSB wrote:Could be related:

Florida State and Tulane.

Roto, I don’t know about us, but Florida State is absolutely number 1. Willie Taggert is on the hot seat after 3 games.

Anyone watching FSU-Clemson? If Florida State keeps this up, they may need to sign another five year road warrior contract with LSU. It fixed their program last time.
Re: Biggest disappointment in CFB for 2018.
Was TCU supposed to be good? 3-4 and in a dogfight at Kansas, trailing 27-24 mid 4th.

If there was any doubt of who, Florida State confirmed it against Clemson.
