Late to the Spongebob discussion but adding my 2 cents that my float for Mardi Gras is Spongebob. The parade theme is Animated Adventures with all cartoon floats. At first our Spongebob riders were underwhelmed that it wasn't a glamorous float, but have turned it around and gotten excited with all of the throws available. It's been the easiest actually to shop for of the themes we've had in the past few years. Actually found some very trendy Spongebob shirts at Rue 21, so it's still out there for the young people.

Surprised no one mentioned UCF stealing our "revive the retro character" idea and bringing out something called a "Citronaut" on their uniforms, which Google tells me was the school's first mascot when the school was known as Florida Tech in the late 60s.

Realize that the twenty-somethings who are the "hip trendsetters" right now are the ones who were watching it as little kids when it first came out, so the recent popularity is probably that generation's first nostalgia moment.

Thanks for sharing Pete. The retro logo for them is ok, but I love the space themed unis. They've put a satellite into space just this year and it's not their first either.

BTW, anybody care to guess how many Louisiana universities have had a working satellite in space? Just one, ULL of all places. Wish we had a strong engineering program so we could join that club...

I've seen a couple of programs do similar things this year for Halloween but (even removing my green glasses) I think this was the best produced one. Nice job!

Agree. Great variation on the scarecrow sitting on the hay bale trick.

Side note: it was, ostensibly (and maybe actually?) setup as a vote for the homecoming uniform combination. You'll note that Coach Fobbs comments "everybody's voting for the black". Just for all the folks who complain about wearing black. The kids obviously like it.

White, green, white are our "throwbacks." They should be spur norm.

I see it now. I got all lost when Tulane football changed their Twitter handle to "#PackYulman". I was just looking at the equipment guys' feed. Surprised they never RT'ed it.

Between that and the way Twitter has no sense of time in the way they display tweets.

They looked decent (and played great) in the gray pants against USF. So we ditch them...

White helmets, white jerseys, black pants? Why???

(I mean, I know WHY, but.... why???)

FWIW, Uniform Authority did their final top 10 lists of the season. Our all black (Memphis) was the #10 blackout uniform and our Cure Bowl all white was #1 white out uniform.
