We need TRADITIONS! Help keep them...
One of the coolest "newer" traditions Tulane football has is the Tulane Band, Cheerleaders, Shockwave and Flag team marching through the tailgate area before the game then to the Stadium. Leading the procession up McAlister to Yulman is "Sophie" a Tulane tradition since 2003. It was then she led the original Krewe of Green Wave parade from the Boot to Brunos. Dozens of Green Wave fans marched in celebration of victory over the "Review". That day Clearwater Wave added the perfect lagniappe to the celebration driving his 1961 Volkswagen pickup truck painted Tulane colors, decorated with Green Wave pride and blaring the Fight Song.
Sophie's duties have expanded since then to leading the Tulane Band marching in Mardi Gras parades and becoming a recognizable face and institution for our Tulane Green Wave.
Clearwater Wave converted Sophie to all-electric power in 2014. Now its 15 batteries need to be replaced along with some general maintenance. YOGWF has a history of stepping up when funds are necessary for worthwhile causes. Sophie is a Tulane tradition that needs to continue.
Help out by going to Sophie's GoFundMe Page and donating what you can.

They should drive this VW out in front of the team as they enter the field, kinda like Georgia Tech does with their car and other schools do. Oklahoma has a wagon, Colorado the Buffalo, etc...

They can’t because there’s something that’s not compatible with the tires and the field. It should get parked out front imo, but it goes straight up to Diboll after leading the band away at the LBC.

I really like the ideas set forth above. But I would like to suggest another one. We need to be known for consistent winning on the gridiron. With that all other traditions would fall into place. We don't have to be Alabama, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, or Ohio State mind you. But wouldn't it be great to aspire to improve from 8-4 or 9-3 for a change instead of 5-7.

Let's work the problem. They drive injury carts on the field, don't they? So someone has to donate $2000 or whatever to fund similar tires that would not damage the field. That's a go fund me that I would support.Wavebacker wrote:They should drive this VW out in front of the team as they enter the field, kinda like Georgia Tech does with their car and other schools do. OU figured it out with the Boomer Sooner wagon. You think hooves and wooden wheels might damage that field? As Pete always tells us, enough money can fix any engineering problem.
Anyway drive the Tulane mobile around the field after a score during Hulabaloo chant. That would motivate the crowd. Plus it's green powered. That should get the naysayers to approve even if it used snow sled runners or whatever.

I love the idea.
The Cure Bowl would be a great time to get it started.

The first step would be donating it to the school

Can we please get rid of the top two topics? They have been there for several months with no responses. Thanks.

It's a tradition around here, to keep sticky posts up until at least 25 years have passed since the latest post.EagerBiever wrote:Thank youThePassWave wrote:Can we please get rid of the top two topics? They have been there for several months with no responses. Thanks.

When does a post on the internet get labeled an "antique?"Roller wrote:It's a tradition around here, to keep sticky posts up until at least 25 years have passed since the latest post.EagerBiever wrote:Thank youThePassWave wrote:Can we please get rid of the top two topics?
