Re: 2018 Bowl Games
For me, outside of our bowl win, last night’s Iowa State-Wash State game was the most entertaining of the bowl games so far.
It’s weird but I have a long ago soft spot for the Cyclones because an old high school teammate, Dexter Green from my Gar-Field HS in Woodbridge VA, an unheralded small RB, tore it up for them in the 70s. He was generously listed as 5’9”/170# but I was only 5’ 9”/150# at the time and he was no bigger than me. I think Dexter might still hold a record or two for them. He died in his 40s from cancer. Dexter wasn’t even the best player on our team. We had four guys play Div. 1 college and one of them, Jeff Nixon, started at safety for several years for the Buffalo Bills.

Really? Normally check my facts, but didn't on this and have no reason to follow either team. Oh well...tulaneoutlaw wrote:You know that was last year right?sr wrote:… and then the New Mexico St - Utah St game

Yeah, NMSU made a bowl last year, not this year. Still a cool game as it broke a 56 year bowl drought for NMSU.sr wrote:Really? Good point. They probably want to see how Les Miles works out at Kansas.windywave wrote:Not even close. "Who can we get that's better?"OGSB wrote:Is Harbaugh’s seat warm?

Can we make Notre Dame join a conference yet?

Don't think it will be the ACC. They've seen enough of Clemson and it's only been 30 minutes.gerryb323 wrote:Can we make Notre Dame join a conference yet?

Re: 2018 Bowl Games
Be honest though. Yes, they play what *usually* is a murderer's row of opponents every year. In most years, undefeated or even one loss with their schedule justifies a tourney berth. But when the schedule turns out to be weak because those same teams all have down years, why should they get a pass just because they have a large fanbase and travel extremely well? Shouldn't they be judged with the same eye that justified excluding UCF? "Sorry, your opponents on your schedule weren't that good this year, you SHOULD HAVE SCHEDULED TOUGHER OPPONENTS" (a.k.a., what the SEC told UCF). Their schedule this year had a lot of teams which weren't all that great, or, more specifically, didn't prove they were top 4. But because of the money involved, they get an automatic berth.windywave wrote:Why do you hate Catholics so much?gerryb323 wrote:Can we make Notre Dame join a conference yet?
Everyone knew they were a pretender. Clemson proved it. But they walk away whistling with tens of millions while UCF gets screwed again.

Oh boy, looks like Alabama & Clemson. Would love to see Oklahoma catch fire and make a game of this.

Re: 2018 Bowl Games
I'm generally pretty solidly against the SEC media bias but this year I think UGA, and maybe even a few other SEC teams, would beat Notre Dame. Ohio State and Penn State too... and I would have said Michigan if they played again (first game of the year is always unlike later) except the Ohio State game apparently messed them up in the head, based on their bowl result today. A couple of those would likely beat OU too, or at least it would be a close game.gerryb323 wrote:Georgia be like: "you sure we're not better than one of these teams?"
But as Dabo says, the whole season is the playoff, and you gotta take care of business all year to get there. Those other schools didn't.
