Well, no. But you still have two more strikes before you're out.

Well, the event is correct, but the number of years is not. It happened on 2/22/80, which makes it 39 years. And it was on a Friday. No live TV in the USA. It was tape delayed to, I think, 8PM EST in the USA. The most expensive tickets to that game were priced at $67.20 (cheap by today's standards) but were being sold for about 3x that amount on the street (still cheap by today's standards). And that game was semifinals, with the finals on Sunday, when the USA beat Finland for the gold metal. Before that game Herb Brooks told the players "If you lose this game you will take it to your f'n grave". Definitely true dat, if they had lost.

"Miracle" is a great film.. it showed exactly how Herb treated the players as he was one of the consultants on the film.. and he truly was a dick. It showed how he picked the team and how it ruffled the feathers of the muckity mucks at USA Hockey. He didn't give a shiat.. he had a vision on how to beat the Soviets, who players were he needed to do it and how to push them.Fan Since '54 wrote:Well, the event is correct, but the number of years is not.
